Why the Press Calls Awestruck the World's First AI for Your Free Time
Four national publications covered the same idea in one month: free time is the one thing everyone has, and nobody had built real help for it. Mid-Day told the story of Awwee, which finds the one thing you will love nearby and books it in a minute. DNA called it the end of pay-to-play, because no brand can buy a higher place. Zee Business described Awestruck as the front door to a hidden experience economy of small studios, spas, clubs and makers who were never online. YourStory put it simply: an AI for your free time.

What Should You Know Before You Pick an App?
- Name the job first. Tickets, tours, events, local activities and AI planning are five different kinds of app, and most people need two.
- Search the right words. "Things to do app" mostly returns to-do lists (why search gets it wrong). Try "app to book activities" instead.
- Online booking is still the exception. Only 33% of experience bookings were made online in 2025, against 64% for all travel (Arival and Phocuswright, Feb 2026).
- The operator usually owns the refund rule. Read the cancellation line before you pay, not after (who sets refunds).
- AI assistants now reach into booking apps. Google named Fever, GetYourGuide, Ticketmaster and OpenTable (UK) as Gemini connected apps in August 2026 (Google, Aug 2026). Viator has an app inside ChatGPT (which apps work where).
- A new kind of app starts from a feeling. An AI free time planner turns "restless, two hours, raining" into options nearby that you can book. Awestruck, which publishes this guide, is live in Mumbai today with its AI, Awwee, and is built for every city.

How We Built This Guide
On 2 Nov 2026 we ran 240 seed phrases through Google autocomplete, in 700 lookups across six markets. We pulled result sets for 20 searches and read 103 ranking pages. Google Play install bands were checked too, along with the robots.txt and llms.txt files of 19 competitor domains. Google's own result pages and AI Overviews were not observable, so a research index stood in for them. We did not sign up, log in or book on any competitor's app. Any cell we could not source says n/a.
This guide is by Pancham SN Bannerrjee, co-founder, CEO and CTO of Awestruck, and Awestruck appears in it. Our app sits the same 12 question test as every other. No app paid to be in this guide. There are no affiliate links and no ads.

What an App for Things to Do Is, and Why Search Engines Confuse It With a To-Do List
Quick answer: An app for things to do finds, compares and books real activities, experiences and events. It works near home or where you travel, and it is not a to-do list.
- Search engines read "things to do app" as a productivity phrase and return to-do lists.
- Search "app to book activities" or "best app for experiences" to reach leisure apps instead.
- The test: does it reach a confirmed booking with a clear price and cancellation rule?
It is not a fitness tracker or a trip itinerary builder either, though search results often treat it as one.
The test is simple. Open the app with a free evening, a budget and a rough idea of who is coming. Does it get you to a confirmed booking, with a clear price and a clear cancellation rule? Everything else serves that loop: discover, choose, pay, confirm, and get help if plans change.
A list of places is easy to build. Live slots, real prices, payment and a human who answers when the venue cancels are not.
The Definitions This Guide Uses
- App for things to do: an app for finding and booking activities, experiences and events, near home or away.
- Experience booking app: an app that sells a time-bound activity, such as a class, a tour or a session. Each booking carries a date, a slot and a confirmation.
- Ticketing app: an app that sells seats or entry for scheduled films, concerts, matches and shows.
- Tour and activity marketplace: a platform where many operators list tours, attraction tickets and day trips, mainly for travellers.
- Event discovery app: an app that lists what is on by date and place. Some also sell the ticket.
- Local experience marketplace: an app that sells bookable activities in your own city and neighbourhood, from pottery to paragliding.
- Hyperlocal: ranked by what is close to you, down to the neighbourhood as well as the city.
- AI free time planner and AI trip planner: defined side by side in the AI free time planner chapter.
Why Does "Things to Do App" Return To-Do Lists?
Search engines read "things to do app" as a productivity phrase. Most results are task managers, not leisure apps. In our search check, Nov 2026, 7 of the top 10 results were to-do list apps or reviews of them. Autocomplete was no better: 7 of 10 suggestions for "best app for things to do" were to-do list searches.
The fix is to name the job. "Apps for things to do near me", "app to book activities" and "best app for experiences" all autocomplete as themselves. That held in all six markets we checked.
Apple Activity, Fever, Alive: Ten Searches That Land in the Wrong Place
The mix-up runs right across the category. Each row below pairs a search from our 2 Nov 2026 check with what came back, and a better phrase.
| You type | What comes back instead | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| activities app | Apple Watch Activity, and Appleton, Wisconsin | app to book activities |
| experiences app | Amex Experiences, Microsoft and Apple pages | best app for experiences |
| fever app | thermometer apps and the Cooking Fever game | Fever plus your city name |
| alive app | a fitness app of the same name (US); founder and funding searches (India) | iamalive app |
| free time app | time trackers and screen time limiters | plan my weekend ai |
| experience booking app | software for tour operators, such as Checkfront, Bokun, FareHarbor, Rezdy and Peek Pro | app to book experiences |
| ai concierge | hotel concierge services, salon and fitness booking software, an electronics brand | ai concierge app |
| date night app | appetiser recipes and a restaurant chain | date ideas app |
| district app | apparel and appraisal results (US) | District by Zomato |
| awestruck app | a cider brand of the same name | bookawestruck |
Answer engines trip over the same collisions. An assistant that cannot tell a fitness app from an experiences app will recommend the wrong one. That is why every app in this guide is named with what it is for and where it works.
What an App for Things to Do Is Not
Beyond to-do lists and trip planners, two neighbours get mistaken for it.
- Deals wallets. Membership apps such as The Entertainer and Privilee in the UAE sell discounts and access. They sit beside this category, not inside it.
- City guides. Visitor apps such as Visit Dubai and Visit Singapore tell you what exists. A booking app tells you what is available, at what price and when. Travellers do well to carry one of each.
The 12 question test later in this guide turns these definitions into a score for any app, ours included.

The Five Kinds of Apps for Things to Do, and the Moment Each One Wins
Quick answer: Apps for things to do come in five kinds: ticketing, tour marketplaces, event listings, local marketplaces and AI free time planners. Awestruck joins the last two: local, bookable and planned from a mood.
- Match the app to the moment: show, trip, weekend, near home or a mood.
- Same-day bookings are 12% to 30% of experience bookings (Phocuswright, Jul 2026).
- An AI free time planner is only as good as the bookable slots behind it.
Most frustration with apps for things to do comes from using the wrong kind for the moment. A tour marketplace is built for the city you are visiting, not a Tuesday evening at home. A ticketing app is perfect for a concert and silent when you just want to get out.
The table sets the five kinds side by side, by horizon, user and moment.
| Kind | What it does | Typical horizon | Built mainly for | Examples | Use it when |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ticketing | Sells seats and entry to scheduled films, concerts, matches and shows | Days to weeks ahead | Fans and cinema-goers | BookMyShow, District, Ticketmaster, Platinumlist | You already know the show |
| Tour and activity marketplace | Sells tours, attraction tickets and day trips from many operators | Before and during a trip | Travellers | GetYourGuide, Viator, Klook, Headout, Tiqets, Pelago | You are visiting a place |
| Event discovery | Lists what is on, sometimes with tickets | This week, this weekend | Locals and visitors | Eventbrite, Fever, AllEvents, Meetup, HighApe | You want to see what is on |
| Local experience marketplace | Sells bookable activities near home, by time slot | Today to this month | Residents | Urbanaut, Alive, Airbnb Experiences, Awestruck | You want to do something, not watch |
| AI free time planner | Turns mood, company, time, budget and place into bookable options | Now, tonight, this weekend | Anyone with free time | Awwee by Awestruck, Karpo | You know the feeling, not the plan |
Ticketing Apps: Built for When You Already Know the Show
Ticketing apps sell a seat at a time someone else has set. That makes them the fastest route to a film tonight or a concert next month. Their limit is the blank page. If you do not yet know what you want, it shows you what is selling, not what suits you.
Tour and Activity Marketplaces: Built for the Visitor
Marketplaces put thousands of operators behind one checkout, with reviews, several languages and several currencies. Most of those operators are small. More than 70% of experience operators are small or micro businesses (Phocuswright, Jul 2026).
The breadth makes them travel-first. Their catalogues lean towards landmarks and day trips. Every comparison we read that ranks for "Headout vs Klook vs Viator vs GetYourGuide" was written for tourists. Use one before and during a trip.
Event Discovery Apps: The Answer to "What's On This Weekend?"
Event apps answer the weekend question by date and place. Fever and Eventbrite sell the ticket, and AllEvents calls itself an event discovery platform. On Meetup, groups host events that members RSVP to.
Freshness wins here. In every market we checked, weekly pages with dates in the title rank for "things to do this weekend". A listing is not a booking, though, so check whether the app sells the ticket itself.
Local Experience Marketplaces: For Doing, Not Watching, Near Home
Local marketplaces sell activities in your own city by time slot. A pottery class, an escape room, a sound bath, a go-kart session, a day picnic outside town. Urbanaut lists heritage walks and workshops, and Alive offers group outings with a "Book Now, Pay Later" option. Airbnb Experiences carries hosted activities worldwide.
Their moment is the short-notice plan. Same-day bookings make up 12% to 30% of experience bookings (Phocuswright, Jul 2026). Their limit is coverage, so check the map at neighbourhood level, not city level.

AI Free Time Planners: For When You Know the Feeling but Not the Plan
An AI free time planner starts where a search bar cannot. You give it a sentence like "we're tired, it's raining, and we have three hours and Rs 2,000". It weighs mood, company, time, budget and location, then returns a short list you can book now. Awwee, from Awestruck, works this way. In New York, Karpo calls itself an "AI sidekick for going out".
It sits between two neighbours. An AI trip planner, such as Layla, builds multi-day itineraries. A general assistant, such as ChatGPT or Gemini, can now hand off to connected booking apps. The free time planner keeps a same-day horizon and local inventory, and ends with a booking. In India, Gotag applies the one-chat idea to corporate offsites: one message in, a priced proposal out.
We did not set out to build another place to search. We wanted something that understands you, and then quietly takes care of the rest.
Mid-Day, 28 May 2026
The honest limit is inventory. An AI planner is only as good as the bookable slots behind it. A plan you cannot book is a suggestion. The chapter on AI free time planners takes this further.

- Markets seen lists where our research found the app ranking, listed or describing itself on 2 Nov 2026. It is not every place the app works.

- They are not user numbers, and Apple publishes no equivalent.
- Price display and AI cells hold only what we could source; everything else says n/a.

Which App Should You Pick From the Table? Three Ways to Use It
Visiting? Find your destination in Markets seen, look for Yes in Book in app, and pair that app with one city guide.
Living there? Start with your market's rows. The global apps are strongest on landmarks; the weeknight plans sit with the local apps.
Planning with an AI assistant? Check the AI column, then which apps work inside ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode.

OpenTable. Restaurant reservations, because dinner is part of most nights out. It was among the partners when OpenAI previewed Operator in January 2025 (OpenAI, Jan 2025).
AI Planners in the Matrix, Including Ours
Karpo. A New York web app that calls itself an "AI sidekick for going out". You start with your mood, it takes notes, and "the plan finds you".
Layla. An AI trip planner for multi-day itineraries; its own blog publishes a tier list of AI trip planners. Its booking scope was not verified.
Awestruck. We publish this guide, so read this entry with that in mind. Awestruck is a hyperlocal app for things to do near you, from discovery to booking. It is live in Maharashtra, India, with 369 experiences listed as of 2 Nov 2026, and built for every city. Its AI, Awwee, takes your mood, time and budget and returns plans you can book. It runs on Android and iOS. Ratings: 4.6 from 62 Google Play reviews and 4.8 from 17 App Store ratings, as of 2 Nov 2026.
The limits are real. Many listings are final once booked under the partner's own rule, and results carry no paid placement. See how cancellation works on Awestruck and what Awwee cannot do yet.

What 31 Rows Show That No Single App Page Will
- AI integrations cluster in global brands. Every announced assistant integration in the table belongs to a global brand. District, BookMyShow, Urbanaut and Thrillophilia publish llms.txt files. No India-first app has an announced assistant integration (see the assistant table).
- Price display is the least documented column. We could source how the price is shown for only 3 of 31 apps. Compare the listing price with the final checkout screen before you pay.
- The most compared apps are built for tourists. Headout, Klook, Viator and GetYourGuide are travel-first. Apps for things to do on a weeknight at home vary city by city. The next section goes market by market.

Apps for Things to Do by Market: What Residents Use and What Visitors Should Install
Quick answer: Every market has apps for shows and tours; few have one for the next free evening near home. Awestruck is live in Mumbai and built for every city, and this chapter shows what fills the gap elsewhere until it arrives.
- Keep two apps: one for the city you live in, one for trips.
- Before paying, check the final price, the cancellation line and how the ticket arrives.
- Lists ranking for "best app for things to do" in Dubai and Singapore are mostly utilities.
Reading tip: Awestruck sits first in every table below and is marked Built for nearby. See what only Awestruck does
The same search means different things in different places, and our search check, Nov 2026 shows it in autocomplete. In the UAE, it surfaces Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Time Out and "with kids indoor". In India: Bangalore, Delhi and "convenience fee". In Singapore: The Smart Local, Time Out and "klook vs pelago".
India: Which Apps Should You Use for Things to Do?
Use BookMyShow or District for films, concerts and shows, and a global marketplace or Thrillophilia for trips. For activities near home, pick a city specialist or a local marketplace.
India's travel market reached US$41.7 billion in 2025 (TRAVEL Extra citing Phocuswright, Sep 2026). It is forecast at US$47.2 billion for 2026, with online penetration at 57%.
Who leads. HighApe, Urbanaut and Alive are city-led specialists for parties, walks, workshops and group outings, and AllEvents lists events across cities.
What locals search. Indian searchers compare costs: "district vs bookmyshow convenience fee" and "district or bookmyshow which is cheaper" both autocomplete. The same goes for "free things to do in bangalore". Demand is hyperlocal too. "Things to do in Andheri" spawns west, east, couples, night and kids modifiers: a suburb searched like a city. Team outings are searched by place, with Pune, Bangalore and Lonavala among the modifiers.
What a visitor should install. One ticketing app for shows, plus GetYourGuide or Viator for tours and day trips. Both run India city pages.
What residents use. Local specialists, built for a weeknight or weekend near home. Awestruck is live in Mumbai and nearby today, with 369 experiences listed as of 2 Nov 2026. They run from water parks to sound healing, with neighbourhood pages such as things to do in Andheri.
UAE: Which App Is Best to Book Activities in Dubai?
For attractions, Headout, Klook and GetYourGuide all sell Dubai tickets. For events, use Platinumlist; for families, Kidzapp; for discounts and memberships, The Entertainer and Privilee.
19.59 million
International overnight visitors to Dubai in 2025, up 5%, with 2.89 million (15%) from South Asia
UAE consumers spend 2.1% of disposable income on experience categories, more than Sweden (1.9%) or China (1%) (Euromonitor, Jan 2024).
What locals search. UAE searchers plan around heat and children. Autocomplete finishes "things to do in dubai with kids" with today, indoor, in summer, this weekend and free. Weekly media carries weight too, with "time out dubai this weekend" a strong search. New residents look for familiar apps: "apps like bookmyshow in dubai" and "apps like meetup in dubai" both autocomplete. Companies search "team outing ideas dubai" and "team building activities in dubai for employees".
What first-timers ask. "First time in dubai what to do" completes with tips and reddit. One ranking FAQ answers whether Dubai's tourist apps work for people who do not speak Arabic.
Why most Dubai app lists miss this. Pages ranking for "best app for things to do in Dubai" are mostly utility lists: taxis, metro, food delivery, police. They give experiences one to three entries.
What a visitor should install. One marketplace (Headout, Klook or GetYourGuide), Platinumlist for events, and Visit Dubai for the city.
What residents use. Kidzapp for families, The Entertainer or Privilee for deals and access, Meetup for groups, Dubai Calendar for what is on. Awestruck is not live in the UAE today. It covers India's main cities first, then other parts of Asia and the Middle East, then the wider world.
Singapore: Which App Should a First-Time Visitor Install?
Install Klook or Pelago for attraction tickets and activities, plus the Visit Singapore app. For this weekend's events, check Fever and the city's weekend guides.
Singapore received 16.9 million visitors in 2025, 1.2 million of them from India (TTG Asia, Feb 2026). Receipts from sightseeing, entertainment and gaming rose 15% in the first nine months, the same report says.
What locals search. Ask for the best app for things to do in Singapore, and most ranking lists are transport and dining tools. Examples include Grab, MRT maps and Chope for restaurant bookings; experiences get a line or two. Travellers do compare, since "klook vs pelago" autocompletes. Families search "things to do in singapore with kids" with this weekend, today, free, at night and Sentosa.
What first-timers ask. "First time in singapore itinerary" and "what to do in singapore airport during layover" both autocomplete.
What a visitor should install. Klook or Pelago, with KKday as a third option.
What residents use. The weekend guides that rank are The Smart Local, Time Out and, for families, Sassy Mama's weekend planner.
United States: Event Apps, Restaurant Tables and the First AI Bookings
In the US, "best app to find things to do" lists are filled with event and ticket apps. The usual names are Eventbrite, Fever, Ticketmaster and Meetup. OpenTable covers dinner, and GetYourGuide, Viator and Airbnb Experiences cover tours and hosted activities.
The big AI booking features arrived here first. Google's AI Mode opened restaurant booking to all US users by November 2025 (PhocusWire, Nov 2025). The rest of the record sits in which apps work inside ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode.
What locals search. "Fun things to do near me" carries today, tonight, adults and teens modifiers. Autocomplete also offers "things to do at night near me under 21". A search for "date ideas app" returns idea generators that book nothing. Solo outings are rising too: OpenTable reservations for one rose 23% in the year to June 2026 (Axios, Jul 2026).
What to expect on price. Since 12 May 2025, the FTC has required live-event tickets to show the total price upfront (FTC, May 2025). That total must include mandatory fees. The rule does not cap fees.
What a visitor should install. GetYourGuide or Viator for attractions, Fever for city events, and OpenTable for dinner. US travellers' most popular activities are sightseeing tours (42%) and culinary tours and classes (40%) (Phocuswright, Jul 2026).
What residents use. Eventbrite, Meetup and Fever for what is on, and in New York, Karpo for going-out plans built from your mood.
United Kingdom: More People Choose Experiences Over Things
Start with Fever, Headout and Eventbrite for what is on, and GetYourGuide, Viator and Tiqets for attractions. Add Meetup for groups and OpenTable for tables.
In Mastercard's 2025 research, 43% of UK respondents said they prefer to spend on experiences, against 26% on material goods. In the same survey, 48% planned to spend more on experiences in 2025. Across Europe, live events took 32% of experience spending outside travel and restaurants in 2024 (Mastercard, 2025). That was up from 31% in 2019.
What locals search. "Experience gift cards" carries a UK modifier, and "eventbrite alternatives uk" comes mostly from organisers looking for ticketing tools.
What a visitor should install. One global marketplace from the matrix for attractions, and Fever for city events.
What residents use. Eventbrite and Meetup for events and groups, and OpenTable for the table afterwards. It is the one Gemini connected app announced with a UK-only label.
What we could not verify. Our research did not confirm any UK-only apps for things to do, so none are named here.
Australia: The Fastest Forecast Growth in Experience Spending Among Developed Regions
Fever runs a Sydney city page and Eventbrite an Australian site, so begin with those two. For attractions, the global marketplaces in the matrix apply.
Australasian consumer spending on experience categories is forecast to grow 5% a year from 2022 to 2032 (Euromonitor, Jan 2024). That is ahead of Europe (3%) and the US (1%).
What locals search. In Australia, "things to do this weekend" completes with Sydney and Melbourne. "Experience gift cards" carries an Australia modifier, and so does "is headout legit". It suggests travellers check trust before they book abroad.
What a visitor should install. One global marketplace for attractions, and Fever for what is on in Sydney.
What residents use. Eventbrite for events, plus the global apps for weekends away.
What we could not verify. Our research did not confirm any Australia-only apps in this category, so none are named here.
One Rule That Works in Every Market
Keep two apps for things to do: one where you live and one for the places you visit. Before you pay in either, check the final price, the cancellation line and how the ticket reaches you. An app that shows all three before you tap Book has earned its place on your home screen.
If you run an experience in any of these cities, the rule works in reverse. Be bookable in the app your neighbours already open on a Saturday afternoon.

Head to Heads: Nine Comparisons People Search Before They Install
Quick answer: Pick by the job: ticketing apps for seats, tour apps for trips, event apps for listings. When the job is something new and nearby, Awestruck wins, because Awwee plans it and books it in one chat.
- District suits going out in one app; BookMyShow suits films and large live events.
- Since February 2022, Viator operators can opt in to a higher commission for better placement.
- Pick Pelago over Klook if you earn or redeem KrisFlyer miles on bookings.
Reading tip: Awestruck sits first in every table below and is marked Built for nearby. See what only Awestruck does
Most people do not search for "the best app". They search "District vs BookMyShow" or "apps like Fever". Usually the plan is half made and a friend is waiting for a reply. Each comparison below ends with where Awestruck fits and where it does not. Where a rival is stronger, we say so.
District vs BookMyShow: Which Is Better for Going Out in India?
District suits people who want films, gigs, restaurant tables and sports courts in one app. BookMyShow suits people who mainly book films and large live events, and value a much longer track record.
| District | BookMyShow | |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Eternal Limited (Zomato) | Big Tree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. |
| Operating since | App launched Nov 2024 | Company founded 1999 |
| What you can book | Movies, events, dining, sports venues, activities, stores | Movies, events, plays, sports, activities, film rentals |
| Event refunds | Generally non-refundable; the organiser approves any refund | Refund status tracked in its online support centre |
District is the newer app with the faster start. Zomato bought Paytm Insider in August 2024 for Rs 2,048 crore (Inc42, Jan 2025). Its Google Play listing (2 Nov 2026) names Wonderla, Imagicaa, Smaaash and Timezone among its attractions.
BookMyShow began in 1999 as a software provider for cinemas (Wikipedia, Nov 2026). Its Google Play listing (2 Nov 2026) now reaches "from amusement parks to fun activities for kids of all ages". Its depth shows in the evidence: about 4.4 million Google Play ratings, against about 197,000 for District.
Which is cheaper? Both can add a convenience fee at checkout. District's event terms say that fee comes back only when the organiser cancels (District, Nov 2026). We did not complete a paid checkout on either app, so we do not rank them on price. Read how convenience fees work.
- Where Awestruck fits: hands-on experiences neither app is built around, found by telling Awwee how you feel. Think of a pottery wheel, a sound healing session or a resort day picnic. It is no use for a new film release or a stadium concert.
Apps Like District: Six Alternatives for Going Out in India
The closest alternatives to District are BookMyShow for tickets, Alive and Urbanaut for hosted experiences, and HighApe for nightlife. AllEvents covers discovery, and Awestruck covers experiences you book through a conversation. The table sets these six apps for things to do side by side.
| App | What it is for | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Awestruck Built for nearby | Experiences near you, planned with an AI | Mood-first plans close to home |
| BookMyShow | Films, events, plays, sports, activities | Tickets at national scale |
| Alive | Hosted experiences: horse riding, jewellery making, sushi making, go-karting | Weekend workshops and outdoor days |
| Urbanaut | "Unique local events & experiences" | Small, host-led sessions |
| HighApe | Events, nightlife, activities and trips | Parties and late nights |
| AllEvents | Event discovery by city | Seeing what is on this week |
Alive is the closest in model to Awestruck: bookable offbeat activities in six Indian cities (UNI, Sep 2026). Its site offers free rescheduling and cancellation up to 24 hours before the start. AllEvents is a discovery engine first, though it also sells tickets in the app. Paytm Insider users will find that business inside District.
- Where Awestruck fits: when you know the feeling but not the activity, and want it close to home. Where Awestruck is not live yet, it cannot help.
BookMyShow Alternatives in the UAE, the UK, the US and Singapore
Outside India, BookMyShow's nearest equivalents are Platinumlist in the UAE, and Eventbrite and Fever in the UK and US. In Singapore, Klook or Pelago fill the gap for attraction tickets.
Autocomplete shows people asking for "apps like BookMyShow" in Dubai, the US and the UK. Three apps fit that search.
- Platinumlist: concerts, shows and attractions across the UAE, from P L P Events L.L.C in Dubai (Google Play, Nov 2026).
- Eventbrite: founded in 2006 in San Francisco (Wikipedia, Nov 2026). Organisers choose whether to allow refunds, and must refund if they cancel (Eventbrite Help Centre, Nov 2026).
- Fever: themed city events; see apps like Fever.
- Where Awestruck fits: the hours before or after a show, with an experience close by, but only in India today. The UAE notes set out where it goes next.
Headout vs Klook: Which Is Better for Attractions and Tours?
Klook is the broader choice, especially across Asia-Pacific, with rail passes, transfers and eSIMs beside its tickets. Headout is the focused choice for last-minute tickets to top tours, shows and attractions in more than 100 cities.
Klook lists a Hong Kong developer address. Its guide for AI systems describes 1,000+ destinations with "the deepest coverage in Asia-Pacific" (Klook, Nov 2026). The same file lists eight or more currencies, instant e-vouchers and 24/7 multilingual support.
Headout Inc. lists a New York address. A September 2026 comparison by Uncompromised Travel says Headout has operated since 2015. By its account, Headout negotiates discounts of 10% to 25% on high-volume experiences. The comparison credits Klook with flagship attraction prices that run 10% to 20% below official counters.
Comparing them for Dubai? Both sell the city. Klook lists the Burj Khalifa, desert safaris and Yas Island. Dubai is among Headout's top destinations. Headout publishes its own guide to apps for a Dubai trip (Headout, Nov 2026).
- Where Awestruck fits: neighbourhood experiences residents book on a weeknight, such as a pottery studio or a smash room. It does not sell skip-the-line tickets to landmarks abroad.
Viator vs GetYourGuide: Which Tour Marketplace Fits Your Trip?
GetYourGuide suits travellers who want the same cancellation layout on every listing. Viator suits travellers who plan inside ChatGPT or already use Tripadvisor.
GetYourGuide was founded in 2009 in Zurich and is headquartered in Berlin (Wikipedia, Nov 2026). Its standard is 24-hour free cancellation on most, but not all, activities (Travel AI Daily, Jul 2026). Terms sit in the same place on every listing (Uncompromised Travel, Sep 2026). Google named it among Gemini's connected apps in August 2026.
Viator, owned by Tripadvisor since 2014, uses three cancellation tiers set per activity (Travel AI Daily, Jul 2026). A full refund needs 24 hours' notice, "strict" listings need seven days, and "all sales final" ones refund nothing. It has had an app inside ChatGPT since April 2026, which searches its catalogue in plain language. Since February 2022, operators have been able to opt in to a higher commission for better search placement (Skift, Nov 2023). How paid visibility works explains the model. If placement matters to you, sort by rating and price too.
- Where Awestruck fits: the free evenings between tours, in a city where it is live. It is not built for guided day trips or multi-stop tours.
Klook vs Pelago: Which Should You Use in Singapore?
Use Klook for the wider choice and scale. Pick Pelago if you fly Singapore Airlines or Scoot, or collect KrisFlyer miles. It lets you earn and redeem miles on bookings.
Pelago calls itself "A Singapore Airlines company" and sells attractions, tours, transport, eSIMs, wellness, cruises, classes and events. Its site promises "Earn miles for every booking and use miles to redeem your purchases" (Pelago, Nov 2026). The site also offers Scoot passengers up to S$15 off. Its Android app is published by Encounters Pte. Ltd. in Singapore (Google Play, Nov 2026). The listing counts more than 200,000 experiences in 150+ countries, with miles on eligible bookings.
Klook's Singapore pages cover Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and the Night Safari. One curious gap: "Klook vs Pelago" autocompletes in India and Singapore. Yet Pelago appeared in the headings of none of the Singapore app lists we analysed.
- Where Awestruck fits: not here yet. Awestruck is not live in Singapore, and other parts of Asia come after India's main cities. Klook and Pelago are the right tools there today.
Airbnb Experiences Alternatives: Where Else to Book Hosted Activities
The strongest Airbnb Experiences alternatives are GetYourGuide and Viator for tours worldwide, and Klook and KKday for Asia. Tiqets covers museums and attractions, and Alive, Urbanaut or Awestruck cover hosted experiences in Indian cities.
Airbnb relaunched in-person Experiences in 2025 (the relaunch in brief). Yet most pages ranking for this search list alternatives to Airbnb stays, not activities. This list covers activities only.
- Tiqets: museums and attractions, published from Amsterdam. Expedia Group closed its purchase in the first quarter of 2026 (Uncompromised Travel, Sep 2026). The same September 2026 comparison reports that Tiqets' price "frequently matches or beats the museum's own website". It credits this to the institution absorbing the commission.
- KKday: a second option beside Klook in Asia, founded in 2014 in Taipei (Wikipedia, Nov 2026).
- Alive and Urbanaut: hosted workshops and local sessions in Indian cities.
- Where Awestruck fits: small-venue experiences close to home, from a sushi workshop to a vineyard stay. It lists some staycations, but it is not a home-rental app.
Apps Like Fever: Alternatives in Six Markets
If you like Fever, try District or BookMyShow in India, and Platinumlist or Kidzapp in the UAE. In Singapore, look at Klook or Pelago; in the US, UK and Australia, Eventbrite.
Fever runs themed city events such as Candlelight concerts, including in India. Results mixed app store pages, thermometer apps and a cooking game.
| Market | Apps like Fever |
|---|---|
| India | District; BookMyShow; HighApe |
| UAE | Platinumlist; Kidzapp for families |
| Singapore | Klook; Pelago |
| US and UK | Eventbrite; Meetup |
| Australia | Eventbrite; Klook |
- Where Awestruck fits: when "an event" is too narrow and you want any good experience near you tonight. Large ticketed shows belong on the apps above.
Apps Like Meetup: Where to Find People, Not Just Plans
Meetup remains the reference for interest groups that meet again and again. For one-off plans with new people, find events on Eventbrite or AllEvents. Or book a small-group workshop on Alive, Urbanaut or Awestruck.
Meetup started in 2002 and is owned by Bending Spoons (Wikipedia, Nov 2026). Groups host events online or in person, and organisers can charge dues or event fees (Meetup, Nov 2026). Searches for "apps like Meetup" carry India, Japan, UK and Dubai modifiers.
A shared activity is an easy way to meet people. You talk because the clay is collapsing, not because someone asked you to introduce yourself.
66%
of solo travellers say a shared physical activity led to a lasting friendship
- Where Awestruck fits: a pottery class, a pasta workshop or a pickleball session, where conversation starts on its own. It books experiences; it does not run groups or communities.

Is It Safe and Legit? A Trust Matrix for 20 Apps, Plus a 6 Step Check for Any Other
Quick answer: Yes, in the plain sense: each app in the matrix names its company, address and support email on Google Play. Safety then depends on the listing, so check ratings, refunds, payment and support.
- Six steps check any app for things to do in about ten minutes.
- Read the rating count before the stars, then the newest low reviews.
- Pay inside the app through a known gateway, never by bank transfer to a stranger.
Reading tip: Awestruck sits first in every table below and is marked Built for nearby. See what only Awestruck does
Trust searches are common in our research: "is Klook safe", "is Headout legit", "is Viator safe", "is Fever app legit", "is District app safe". Four of the five autocomplete with "reddit". The matrix below is a neutral second opinion on 20 apps for things to do. It holds public facts, dated, with n/a wherever we could not source one.

Sources.
- Developer, location, support channel and rating count: each app's Google Play listing, 2 Nov 2026.
- Operating since: Wikipedia (Nov 2026) for BookMyShow, KKday, GetYourGuide, Airbnb, Eventbrite and Meetup. Inc42 (Jan 2025) for District, Uncompromised Travel (Sep 2026) for Headout and Tiqets, Travel AI Daily (Jul 2026) for Viator.
- Refund routes: pages published by District, BookMyShow, Urbanaut, Headout, Fever and Eventbrite (Nov 2026). Klook, GetYourGuide and Viator come from Travel AI Daily (Jul 2026), and Alive from its site (2 Nov 2026). Awestruck's route comes from its cancellation policy.
- Extra support channels: Klook's and Pelago's own sites (Nov 2026), and Awestruck's contact page.
How to read it:
- n/a means not sourced, not absent. It says nothing about the app either way.
- The listed location is the developer's contact address on Google Play, not always the head office. Eternal Limited lists New Delhi on Play and is headquartered in Gurugram (Wikipedia, Nov 2026).
- Counts before stars. A 4.6 from 62 reviews and a 4.7 from 4.4 million are different amounts of evidence. Ours is the small one. Awestruck has Google Play 4.6 from 62 reviews and App Store 4.8 from 17 ratings, as of 2 Nov 2026.
Six Steps to Check Any App Before You Pay
Any app not in the matrix can be checked in about ten minutes, in any market.
- Match the developer to the company. On Google Play, open "About the developer" and note the legal name, address and support email. Then find the same name in the app's terms or website footer. Awestruck appears as Awestruck Joymakers LLP on both app stores.
- Read the count before the stars, then the newest low reviews. Sort by newest, read the one and two star reviews, and see whether the company replies. A rating built on a few dozen reviews can swing either way.
- Find the refund rule on the listing, and who sets it. If it is not visible before payment, ask first or book elsewhere (who sets refunds).
- Test support before you need it. Send one question through the listed channel and time the reply. If the only route is a web form, a problem on the day will feel the same.
- Pay inside the app, through a known gateway. Card data should sit with a certified processor. PCI DSS is the card industry's security standard. Since 31 March 2024, v4.0 has been its only active version (PCI Security Standards Council, Mar 2025). Indian merchants have not been allowed to store actual card data since 1 October 2022 (Business Today, Aug 2022). Never send a bank transfer to a stranger to "hold" a slot.
- Know where your ticket lives, and who you can escalate to. Check whether tickets arrive by email, in a phone wallet or only inside the app, and save a copy offline. In India, online marketplaces must name a grievance officer (Khaitan & Co, 2020). They must acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within a month. In the UAE, prices must be clear and card surcharges are banned (Pinsent Masons, Oct 2023).
Are the Top Results Paid For?
Sometimes, and a trustworthy app for things to do tells you when. The rules on paid visibility are tightening.
India's Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Amendment Rules 2026 come into force on 1 January 2027 (SCC Online, Sep 2026). They require sponsored listings to be labelled and ranking factors explained in plain language. In the EU, platforms must describe any paid influence on ranking to the businesses that use them (EUR-Lex, Jun 2019). The business side is in why ads can cost more than the commission.
Awestruck states that brands never pay to appear in recommendations (Awestruck reviews page, Nov 2026). It also states there is no sponsored placement inside results.

Price, Fees and Refunds: What You Actually Pay, and Who Decides If You Get It Back
Quick answer: Apps for things to do show price three ways: total upfront, "plus taxes", or fees added at checkout. Awestruck shows the local price on every listing and gives a 5 minute free cancellation window.
- Check the last screen every time, because fixed fees move too.
- No platform is reliably cheaper, so compare identical listings for the same slot.
- Cancel within 5 minutes of booking on Awestruck for a full refund to your wallet.
In our research, the most practical searches about apps for things to do concern money. People type "District vs BookMyShow convenience fee", "which is cheaper" and "can I get a refund on BookMyShow".
Three Ways Apps Show a Price
The display style decides how much the total can grow by checkout.
| Display style | What you see first | What appears later | Where you will meet it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total upfront | Full price including mandatory fees | Nothing new at checkout | US live-event tickets and short stays, since May 2025 |
| Price plus taxes | A base price marked "plus taxes" | Taxes at checkout | Alive's listings (2 Nov 2026), for example |
| Price plus fees | A base price | Convenience, platform or processing fees on the payment screen | Movie and event tickets in India |
India's 2027 rules define a "prior price" as the lowest in the previous 30 days (SCC Online, Sep 2026). That matters whenever an app shows a struck-through price.
What Is a Convenience Fee?
A convenience fee is a charge an app adds to each booking for selling online, on top of the ticket price. In India it is most familiar on movie and event tickets.
In July 2025 the Bombay High Court struck down Maharashtra's orders barring such fees on online movie tickets (MediaNama, Jul 2025). In March 2026, the Competition Commission of India closed a complaint against BookMyShow (MediaNama, Mar 2026). The complaint cited a Rs 25 per-ticket fee, and the Commission found no abuse. It noted that up to 55% of the fee goes to single-screen cinemas and up to 77% to multiplexes.
Fixed fees move too. Indian food delivery apps introduced a Rs 2 platform fee in 2023 (YourStory, Mar 2026).
Rs 17.58
per-order platform fee, including GST, at one Indian food delivery app in March 2026
The lesson carries over to tickets and experiences. Check the last screen every time.
Who Sets the Refund Terms, the App or the Operator?
The operator usually does: the venue, host or organiser chooses the cut-off and any fee. The app displays and enforces that rule.
- Tours: on GetYourGuide, Viator and Klook, "the individual operator sets the cancellation tier, the refund window, and the price for each listing" (Travel AI Daily, Jul 2026).
- Attractions: on Headout, the policy "depends on the one you book" (Headout Help Centre, Nov 2026). It runs from 24 to 72 hours' notice to no changes at all.
- Events: District's event tickets are generally not refundable unless the organiser approves (District, Nov 2026). Its convenience fee comes back only if the organiser cancels, and approved refunds may take 7 to 10 working days.
- Hosted sessions: Urbanaut hosts refund bookings from their own dashboard (Urbanaut, Nov 2026).
The app adds the display, the payment route and the handling when an operator cancels.
How Cancellation Works on Awestruck
Awestruck adds a short free window before partner rules apply. From its cancellation policy:
- Within 5 minutes of booking: a full refund to your Awestruck wallet. Your dashboard shows how to move it to your bank.
- After 5 minutes: the partner's cut-off and fees apply, for example 24 hours before for a 50% refund.
- Refunds, if any: to your original payment method within 7 business days.
- No-shows and cancellations past the cut-off: charged in full.
- If the partner cancels for weather, safety or government restrictions: a full refund or credit.
Partner rules vary widely. These five live listings were checked on 2 Nov 2026.
| Experience | Listed price | Rule on the listing |
|---|---|---|
| Jet Ski Ride at Entartica Sea World, Alibaug | Rs 631 | Non-refundable; reschedule at least 24 hours before |
| Olympic Air Pistol Shooting at 10x Shooting India, Thane West | Rs 1,039 | Cancel at least 24 hours before |
| One-Day Picnic at The Kanila Resort, Karjat | Rs 2,077 | Full refund if cancelled at least 4 days before |
| Village Adventure Day Picnic at Monteria Village, Khalapur | Rs 1,778 | Non-cancellable once confirmed |
| Vineyard Stay with Spa & Wine Tasting at Soma Vine Village, Nashik | Rs 13,073 | 20% fee up to 60 days, 50% up to 30 days, no refund within 7 days |

Same app, same day, five different rules. Read the line, not the logo.
Are Apps Cheaper Than Booking Direct?
Sometimes, but no platform is reliably cheaper, so compare identical listings for the same date, slot and group size.
A July 2026 comparison found none of GetYourGuide, Viator and Klook wins consistently on price (Travel AI Daily, Jul 2026). Behind every price sits a commission you never see. Airbnb publishes a host service fee of typically 20% of the experience price (Airbnb Help Centre, Nov 2026). Some GetYourGuide operators reported a rise from 20% to 30% in July 2025 (Arival, Jul 2025). It was later reversed for some of them. Rates in other categories are in how much the big platforms take. What a partner pays on Awestruck sets out our model.
Four Checks Before You Tap Pay
- Screenshot the listing, price and cancellation line included, and compare final totals for the same slot and group size.
- Note who refunds, to where, and how fast. Wallet credit and a card refund are not the same thing.
- If the operator cancels, ask which you are getting: a refund or a credit.
- Know your local rights. India's 2020 e-commerce rules limit cancellation charges (Khaitan & Co, 2020). A platform may charge you for cancelling only if it bears similar charges when it cancels on you.

The New Category: AI Free Time Planners, and How They Turn a Feeling Into a Booking
Quick answer: An AI free time planner turns your mood, company, place and time into two or three bookable options nearby. It books the one you pick. Trip planners plan days away; this one plans tonight.
- Use a trip planner to choose the city, and a free time planner once there.
- Treat chatbot prices as unverified unless the chatbot connects to a booking app with live slots.
- Ask any AI planner what it remembers, and whether it asks before it pays.
Almost every AI tool in this space points at trips. "AI trip planner" autocompletes in every region we tested, while "free time AI" barely registers yet. The category exists in people's lives before it exists in search, so this section defines it.
56%
of US travellers used AI for planning, booking or in-destination help on at least one trip in the past 12 months, up from 33% in the first half of 2025
What Is an AI Free Time Planner?
An AI free time planner is an app that plans and books what to do in your own free hours. It starts from a mood rather than a destination. The terms around it, one sentence each:
- Free time AI: AI built for the hours that belong to you, focused on what to do next rather than on work, errands or trips.
- AI free time planner: an app for things to do that starts from a feeling and a few constraints, shortlists bookable experiences nearby and completes the booking.
- AI trip planner: an app that builds a multi-day itinerary for a destination, usually around flights, stays and sights.
- AI concierge app: an assistant that handles requests on your behalf; a free time planner is a concierge with one job, deciding and booking what you do next.
- Agentic booking: an AI completing a booking for you, within limits you approve.
Awestruck describes Awwee as the world's first AI built for your free time (Awestruck, Nov 2026). That is the company's own description. This guide uses the category name because the job it names is different from trip planning.
AI Trip Planner vs AI Free Time Planner: What Is the Difference?
An AI trip planner plans days you will spend somewhere else. An AI free time planner plans the next few hours where you already are, and books them.
| AI trip planner | AI free time planner | |
|---|---|---|
| Time horizon | Days or weeks ahead | Tonight, this weekend, the next free hour |
| You start with | A destination and dates | A mood, the people with you, a budget and the time you have |
| Distance | A city or a country | A few kilometres from where you are |
| Output | A day-by-day itinerary | Two or three options you can book now |
| Inventory | Flights, stays, tours, sights | Local experiences with live time slots |
| Booking | Often links out to other sites | Inside the same conversation |
| What it learns | Trip preferences | Tastes over months: what you loved, what you skipped |
| Typical user | A traveller | A resident, or a visitor already in town |
Every published comparison of AI trip planners in our research tested a multi-day trip. None tested a same-day plan near home. The tools work together. Use a trip planner to choose the city, and a free time planner once you arrive.
From a Feeling to a Booking, Step by Step
A good free time planner takes a sentence like "restless, four of us, free Sunday, back by night". It moves that sentence through seven steps to a confirmed booking.
- You say it the way you would to a friend. Mood, company, time, budget, area. No category menu first.
- It fills in what you did not say. Time of day, weather, distance, what is open.
- It filters to what can actually be booked. Awestruck's store listings, for example, say its AI shows verified picks within 1 to 6 km (Google Play, Nov 2026).
- It shortlists, with reasons. Two or three options, each with a line on why it fits, instead of three hundred results.
- You refine in plain words. "Quieter." "Closer." "Something the kids can do too."
- It shows the facts before you pay. Price, slot, duration and the cancellation rule.
- You book, and it remembers. The next suggestion starts from what you loved and what you skipped, and you can correct what it keeps.
For how Awwee handles these steps and the signals it reads, see how Awwee turns a sentence into a booking.
Step 4 can look like this. The three cards are live Awestruck listings on 2 Nov 2026, arranged as an illustration rather than a recorded conversation.
Each of the three carries a different cancellation rule (all three compared). They run from a full refund up to 4 days out to none at all. A planner that shows that difference before you pay is doing its job.
Which Apps for Things to Do Work Inside ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode?
As of 2 Nov 2026, Fever, GetYourGuide and Ticketmaster are Gemini connected apps. Viator, Booking.com and Expedia have apps in ChatGPT. Google AI Mode books restaurant tables in the US, with tickets and appointments in testing.
| App | Inside ChatGPT | Inside Gemini | Google AI Mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fever | Not listed | Connected app, Aug 2026 | Not listed |
| GetYourGuide | Not listed | Connected app, Aug 2026 | Not listed |
| Ticketmaster | Not listed | Connected app, Aug 2026 | Ticket booking partner |
| OpenTable | Not listed | Connected app (UK), Aug 2026 | Restaurant booking partner |
| Viator | App since Apr 2026 | Not listed | Not listed |
| Booking.com | App since Oct 2025 | Not listed | Flights and hotels announced, Nov 2025 |
| Expedia | App since Oct 2025 | Not listed | Flights and hotels announced, Nov 2025 |
| StubHub, SeatGeek | Not listed | Not listed | Ticket booking partners |
| Klook, Headout, Tiqets, District, BookMyShow, Awestruck | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
"Not listed" means not named in these sources as of 2 Nov 2026, not proof of absence. Sources for the table:
- Gemini connected apps: Google, Aug 2026.
- Viator's ChatGPT app: getdrio app tracker, Apr 2026.
- Apps in ChatGPT: OpenAI, Oct 2025.
- AI Mode bookings with OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek and Booksy: Google, Aug 2025.
- Tickets and beauty appointments in Labs: Android Authority, Nov 2025.
- Flights and hotels: PhocusWire, Nov 2025.
Two cautions. Gemini's rollout named no country except the UK, which applied to OpenTable. And OpenAI moved ChatGPT shopping from in-chat checkout towards discovery in March 2026 (Skift, Mar 2026). As a result, "inside ChatGPT" often means finding there and booking on the app's own system.
What a chatbot can read matters too. District's llms.txt welcomes assistants to read and cite its pages (District, Nov 2026). Viator's excludes prices, availability and reviews (Uncompromised Travel, Sep 2026). Airbnb's robots file blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Applebot-Extended (Airbnb, Nov 2026). Those choices shape the answer you get when you ask an assistant what to do tonight.
45%
of US consumers used AI tools for local business recommendations in 2026, up from 6% in 2025
Can ChatGPT Plan My Weekend?
Yes, a general chatbot can suggest a good weekend. Unless it is connected to a booking app with live slots, treat its prices as unverified. Check them, and the slot, on the live listing.
The September 2026 comparison cited above says the same. General assistants are strong at ideas and weak at Saturday's 4 pm slot. When an assistant does act for you, it should ask first. OpenAI says its ChatGPT agent asks permission before purchases (OpenAI, Jul 2025).
A dedicated free time planner trades breadth for depth. It knows less about the world and more about the next three hours near you. That means what is open, what has a slot and what the cancellation rule says. It has limits too, and Awwee's are listed in what Awwee cannot do yet.
Nine Privacy Questions to Ask Any AI Planner
Ask what it remembers, and if you can see, correct and delete it. Then check whether your chats feed advertising, who else receives your data, and whether it asks before it pays. A planner that knows your moods knows a lot.
Gen Z goes further. Some 76% of Gen Z travellers would share data such as wearable metrics or emotional state to personalise a trip (Booking.com via Hospitality Net, Oct 2026). Among boomers, the figure is 35%.
Sharing can be a fair trade, as long as it is a choice. Put these nine questions to any planner before you tell it much.
- What does it remember about me? Ask for a plain list of tastes, past bookings, location history and conversations.
- Can I correct or delete it? Correction and deletion are different rights, so check for both. Awestruck says what Awwee remembers "can be corrected any time" (Awestruck, Nov 2026). Its Google Play data safety section says users can ask for their data to be deleted.
- Does it work without an account? Browsing without one is a good sign; memory should switch on only when you log in.
- Are my conversations used for advertising? Look for a plain no, in writing. Awestruck's reads: "Conversations are not ad inventory."
- Who else receives my data? At least the venue that fulfils the booking and the payment processor; the privacy policy should name the rest. Awestruck's privacy policy is public.
- How precise is my location, and when is it collected? Neighbourhood level is enough to plan an evening.
- What protects young people? Look for a stated minimum age for bookings and a stated approach to minors in conversation.
- Does it ask before it pays? Any agent that can spend money should confirm first.
- Which law protects my data? In India, the DPDP Rules phase in, with consent managers from 13 November 2026 (Hogan Lovells, Nov 2025). Most obligations, including notice, consent and breach reporting, apply from 13 May 2027.
One more test is harder to write into a policy: how the planner behaves when a conversation turns heavy. Awestruck says Awwee is built to respond with care and to encourage real human support, never to deepen dependence. Its answers to questions 3 and 7 are in what Awwee remembers and whether Awwee is safe for families.

Meet Awwee: The AI That Starts With How You Feel and Ends With a Booking
Quick answer: Awwee is the AI inside Awestruck, an app for things to do near you: tell it your mood, time, budget and company, and it suggests experiences and books one in the same chat.
- Describe the plan in plain words; Awwee suggests bookable experiences and completes the booking.
- Brands cannot buy a higher place; Awwee ranks on mood, time, budget, company and distance.
- Chatting is free; cancel within 5 minutes for a full refund to your Awestruck wallet.
Awestruck describes Awwee as "the world's first AI built for your free time". More plainly, it calls Awwee "Less like an app, more like a friend who always knows a place." Awestruck is live in Mumbai today. It covers India's main cities first, then other parts of Asia and the Middle East, then the wider world. The product facts below are Awestruck's own, as of 2 Nov 2026.
Everyone is given the same free time, and almost no one has ever had real help making the most of it.
Mid-Day, 28 May 2026
How does Awwee turn a sentence into a booking?
You describe the plan the way you would text a friend, and Awwee replies with experiences it can actually book. You pick one, choose a date, slot and group size, and pay. The confirmation goes to your registered email and mobile number.
A typical opening line: "Three of us, Sunday afternoon, might rain, under Rs 1,500 each." Awestruck says Awwee weighs more than 50 live signals to answer it. They include distance, ratings, the time of day and what you disliked last time.
You can also skip the chat and filter by location (40 localities), category (11, plus pet friendly), group and mood. Browsing is open; you create an account at booking, with a one-time password, so tickets and refunds attach to you.
Awwee chats in any language you write in, or, as Awestruck puts it, "whatever home sounds like".
Why does it start from your neighbourhood, not your city?
Travel time decides most free-time plans, so Awwee looks first for what is close and bookable now. It works down to the locality, instead of listing a whole city. Awestruck calls itself a hyperlocal platform.
Two neighbours in one city can get different, equally right answers. A Tuesday with ninety free minutes only becomes a plan if the place is close.
What does Awwee remember, and who controls it?
Awwee remembers your tastes once you log in, and you can correct or clear what it holds at any time. You need not explain yourself twice. The controls are set out in Awestruck's Awwee FAQ.
The Awwee page states the principle in one line: "Awwee's memory exists to serve the person, never to serve ads." The nine privacy questions work on this planner as well as any other.
Is Awwee safe for families and young people?
Awestruck says Awwee is "built to be family-safe, with special protection around young people baked into how it behaves". It is for everyone, teens included. A class 10 student can chat with Awwee comfortably: it understands who it is talking to and recommends accordingly. Bookings still need an adult: the terms require bookers to be 18 or older, so a parent or guardian books.
On venues, Awestruck's cancellation policy says it vets partners on background, reviews and safety records. It also asks you to check health, age and liability requirements yourself before booking.
How does Awwee choose what to recommend?
Awwee ranks on fit, according to Awestruck: your mood, time, budget, company and distance, weighed against live slots and ratings. Brands cannot buy a higher place.
Pancham's note on the Reviews page puts it plainly: "To brands: your ranking here is earned by quality, never bought." He told YourStory in June 2026 why the endless results page fails: "People do not want a thousand options. They want the one thing that fits their mood, budget, and time." The venue side is in the fair deal.
What does it cost, and what if your plans change?
Chatting with Awwee is free; you pay only when you book. Cancel within 5 minutes and the full amount returns to your Awestruck wallet. After that, the venue's own cut-off and fees apply.
- Price. Prices are set for local wallets. Awestruck is hyperlocal, built around local budgets, taste and preferences. That way, people choose what they love rather than what is pushed at them.
- Payment. Payments go through PCI DSS compliant gateways, and Awestruck says it never stores your card details.
- Partner rules. Some listings say "Bookings are final and can't be cancelled". Others offer "Full refund if you cancel at least 4 days before". The rest of the policy is in how cancellation works on Awestruck.
- Help. Email connect@bookawestruck.com, or call or WhatsApp +91 99676 35191.
What Awwee cannot do yet
Awwee books experiences and day plans, nothing else: no cabs, food delivery or transport. Its listings sit in one region today, many cannot be cancelled once booked, and it is not a person.
- Coverage. 369 experiences listed as of 2 Nov 2026, all in one region of western India.
- Refund rules. Many partners sell final slots. The app shows the rule; it cannot change it.
- It is software. The letter to doubters on the Awwee page is direct: "Awwee is not human and will never pretend to be. It is not a therapist and will never claim to be."
Why launch an app for things to do in one place first? Pancham's answer:
We chose to prove this model in Mumbai deliberately. It is one of the densest, most demanding, most price-sensitive markets on the planet, if an AI can earn trust with people's free time here, it can earn it anywhere.

The 12 Question Test: How to Tell a Great App for Things to Do From a Pretty Directory
Quick answer: Score any app for things to do 0 or 1 on 12 questions, from feeling and neighbourhood to real price, refunds, human support, fair venue terms and travel; under 8 is a directory.
- Score each question 0 or 1; under 8 is a directory dressed up as an app.
- If a things to do app changes the price on the last screen, close it.
- Awestruck cannot pass question 12 yet, because it books in one region only.
Most apps in this category look the same on the store page. Bright photos, a search bar, a few categories, a promise of "the best near you". The difference shows up later: on a Saturday at 6 pm, when you have two hours, three friends and no idea what to do. Here is the test we use on every app in this space, including our own. Score each question 0 or 1. Anything under 8 is a directory dressed up as an app.
1. Can you say what you feel like, instead of what you want?
"I want an escape room" is easy. Any search bar handles it. "I'm restless, it's raining, and I don't want to sit in a café again" is the real question most people have. A good app takes the second sentence and comes back with three answers that make sense. A directory asks you to pick a category first.
2. Does it know where you are, down to the neighbourhood?
City level is not enough. Forty minutes in traffic kills a plan faster than a bad review. The app should rank what is close, open now and reachable before your energy runs out.
3. Does it show the real price before you tap Book?
Price, taxes, per person or per group, and what is included. If the price changes on the last screen, close the app.
4. Can you book and pay inside the app, and get a confirmation in seconds?
"Call the venue to check" is not booking. Real availability, real payment through a known gateway, and a confirmation you can show at the door.
5. Is the cancellation rule written in plain words on the listing?
Not in a policy page three links away. On the listing, before you pay.
6. Who answers when something goes wrong?
A named support channel, a human behind it, and an answer the same day, not a ticket number.
7. Are the photos honest?
Look for labels such as "image for representation purpose". An honest app tells you when a photo is a stock image and when it is the actual venue.
8. Does it treat small venues fairly?
This one is invisible to most users, and it matters more than any feature. If an app takes a third of every booking and charges venues to appear higher, the venue raises prices or cuts corners. You pay for that either way.
9. Does it fill your screen with ads?
An app that earns from advertising has two customers: you and the advertiser. Guess which one decides what you see first.
10. Does it work for the person next to you?
Your teenager, your parents, your colleague who has just moved to the city. Large text, clear buttons, simple language, more than one language.
11. Does it get better the more you use it?
The second time you open it, it should remember that you loved the pottery class and skipped the horror room.
12. Will it still be useful when you travel?
A things to do app that stops working at the city border is a local guide, not an app for your free time.
Our own score: we built Awestruck to pass all twelve. Today it cannot pass question 12, because it books in one region only, and that gap is the reason it is built for every city rather than one. The rest of this guide holds every other app to the same test.
Score Awestruck on the same 12 questions, on your own phone.

Who Is Going? 11 Audiences, Their Real Questions and Plans That Work
Quick answer: Who is going decides the plan more than which app for things to do you open: teens need a parent to book, seniors need step-free access and teams need an invoice.
- Solo plans are safest when booked, hosted and at a fixed time and place.
- Families should read the cancellation cut-off before paying, in case a child falls ill.
- Teams should fix headcount, budget per head, travel time and date before shortlisting venues.
People rarely search for "an app for families". They search "what to do with kids this weekend near me". Each module starts from searches like that and ends with live Awestruck examples, priced as listed on 2 Nov 2026. The advice works in any city.
The table shows what decides each plan and what to check first in any app for things to do.
| Who | What decides the plan | Check first in any app |
|---|---|---|
| Teens 14 to 18 | Age rules, a parent who books | Who may book; minimum age |
| College students | Price per head | Per person or per group |
| Couples | Shared mood, often no alcohol | Alcohol-free formats; refund rule |
| Families with kids | Age bands, sick days | Child price; cancellation cut-off |
| Grandparents and seniors | Steps, pace, seating | Step-free entry; time on foot |
| Solo | Safety, company | Single tickets; daytime slots |
| First time in a new country | Language, payment | Card accepted; email confirmation |
| New to a city | Distance | Neighbourhood filter |
| Expats and new residents | A social circle | Sessions that repeat |
| Corporate teams | Headcount, invoice, transport | Group cap; tax invoice |
| Access needs | Specific access details | Written access information |
Teens 14 to 18: What Can They Do That a Parent Will Happily Book?
Daytime, venue-based activities with a fixed start and end suit teens best. Think laser tag, bowling, escape rooms, go-karts and creative workshops. On Awestruck the booker must be 18 or older, so a parent or guardian books.
What they search: "fun things to do near me for teens" and "things to do for teens near me cheap". Others type "birthday ideas near me for teens" and "experiences near me for teens".
What matters: each venue sets its own age rules, and Awestruck's policy asks you to check them before booking. Agree the pickup time before you pay.
Check in any app: who may book; the listed minimum age; whether an adult must attend; where the confirmation goes.
Example plans:
- After exams: Laser Battle Arena, Lower Parel West, Rs 1,039 for 30 minutes. No cancellation rule is stated, so ask first.
- One venue, two activities: Thrillville Entertainment Zone, Vasai East. Pair the Go-Kart Sprint 10 Laps (Rs 672, 15 minutes) with the Rampage Room (Rs 414, 20 minutes). Both are final once booked.
- The puzzle squad: Bank heist at No Escape, Malad West, Rs 1,161 for an hour; non-refundable, but you can reschedule.
How Awwee helps: a teenager can plan it with Awwee directly, or with a parent. One line does it: "four 15 year olds, Saturday 2 to 5 pm, under Rs 800 each, no horror". A parent then books, so the confirmation lands on the parent's phone.
College Students: How Do You Fill a Weekend on a Student Budget?
Pick short, group-friendly formats such as gaming arenas, bowling, comedy nights and smash rooms. Before anyone pays, check whether the price is per person or per group.
What they search: "things to do for college students near me" and "what to do on weekends in college". On a budget: "cheap things to do near me" and "apps like meetup that are free".
What matters: the real budget is per head after fees. Groups shrink at the last minute, so the refund rule matters as much as the price.
Check in any app: per person or per group pricing, and the checkout total with any platform or convenience fee. Ask what happens if one friend drops out.
Example plans:
- Under Rs 350: PS5 Gaming Arena at Metadrive Arcade, Chembur East, Rs 279 for 30 minutes. Or a Bowling Game Pass at Gamera Playverse, Ghansoli, Rs 330 for 45 minutes.
- Friday night: Stand-Up Comedy at RA Studio, Powai, Rs 549 for two hours. Non-refundable, so commit first.
- Results day: Chill Mode Smash Room at Rage Room, Andheri East, Rs 579 for 10 minutes. Cancel more than 24 hours ahead for a 97% refund or one free reschedule.
How Awwee helps: give it a hard ceiling: "five of us, Friday after 7, Rs 600 each, maximum."
Couples: Is There an App for Date Ideas That Also Books the Date?
Yes: date idea apps suggest, booking apps reserve, and an AI free time planner such as Awwee does both. Describe the evening, including "no alcohol" or "shy" if that matters, and book a real slot in the same conversation.
What they search: "is there an app for date ideas" and "things to do near me for couples tonight". For a surprise, people type "surprise date ideas for him near me". Dating app FAQs add "What if we do not drink or go to restaurants?" They also ask "Do both partners need the app?"
What matters: a shared task takes the pressure off conversation. That is why a workshop often beats a dinner table on a first date.
Check in any app: whether one person can book for two, and where the confirmation goes. Read the refund rule too, in case one of you falls ill.
Example plans:
- Shy first date, no drinks: Wheel Pottery and Sculpting at Meetakriti Art Studio, Goregaon East, Rs 1,344 for 90 minutes. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
- Sunset on the water: Sunset Yacht Sail at Discover Sailing India, Colaba, Rs 6,964 for two hours. The cancellation fee runs from 30% to 75%.
- The question itself: Propose in a Plane at BB Flying Charters, Vile Parle West, Rs 40,625 for an hour. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
How Awwee helps: one partner books, and the confirmation goes only to that person's email and mobile. A surprise stays a surprise.
Families With Kids: What Should You Check Before You Pay?
Check the age range, whether children pay full price and whether it is indoors. Above all, check what happens if your child is ill on the day. Refund rules differ by venue, so read the cancellation terms before you pay.
What they search: "things to do with toddlers near me indoor". Parents also type "things to do on a rainy day with kids near me". Family travel guides add "Do these platforms offer child discounts?" and "Can I cancel if my kid gets sick?"
What matters: age bands decide height limits; naps, meals and the drive home decide how long a plan can last.
Check in any app: the age range, a child price, and indoor or outdoor. Note the total time including travel, and the cut-off for a full refund.
Example plans:
- Rainy morning, under-10s: Kids Trampoline And Play Zone at Thrillville Entertainment Zone, Vasai East, Rs 311 for an hour. Final once booked.
- A long day with a safety net: One-Day Picnic at The Kanila Resort, Karjat, Rs 2,077 for eight hours. It is refundable in full up to 4 days before.
- Water day: Full Day Water Park at Fountain City Waterpark, Vasai, Rs 1,674 for four hours. Final once booked.
Two are final; one refunds in full up to four days out. That difference is the sick-child question answered.
How Awwee helps: give ages, not just "kids": "two children, 4 and 9, indoors, Sunday morning, home by 1."
Grandparents and Seniors: How Do You Plan Around Steps, Pace and Seating?
Plan from the body, not the venue. Ask how far they can walk, whether stairs are a problem and how often they need to sit. Then pick short or seated formats and confirm access before you pay.
Getting out matters. The WHO estimates that up to 1 in 3 older adults experience social isolation (World Health Organization, Jun 2025).
What they search: "things to do with elderly parents near me" and "things to do with grandparents and kids". Others search "indoor activities for senior citizens near me".
Check in any app: step-free entry or a lift, seating throughout, toilets nearby and time on foot. Know the refund rule if health changes on the day.
Example plans:
- A calm hour: Thai Oil Massage at Yuan Thai Spa, Bandra West, Rs 3,054 for an hour. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
- Three generations: the Mirage Museum at Thrillville Entertainment Zone, Vasai East, an illusion museum, Rs 550 for 90 minutes. Ask about seating along the way.
- Made by hand: Ceramic Pottery at Meetakriti Art Studio, Goregaon East, Rs 1,343 for an hour. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
How Awwee helps: state the constraint instead of hunting for a filter. For example: "my father walks with a stick, no stairs, 90 minutes, mornings." If a listing is silent on access, ask support on WhatsApp (+91 99676 35191) before booking.
Going Solo: What Is Safe and Genuinely Fun to Do Alone?
The safest solo plans are booked, hosted activities at a fixed time and place: classes, workshops, guided sessions and sport. Someone expects you, a shared task replaces forced small talk, and the plan has a clear end.
What they search: "things to do alone near me" and "app for solo travellers to meet people". A third search is "safe things to do alone as a woman".
What matters: for solo women especially, daytime slots, busy venues and a known way home. Single tickets too, because some activities are priced for pairs.
Check in any app: that you can book one ticket, and recent reviews. Look for a confirmation by email or text as well as in the app. Find out what happens if the host cancels.
Example plans:
- A Saturday skill: Sushi Workshop at Just Appetite Culinary School, Andheri East, Rs 3,228 for three hours. Final once booked.
- Meet people by moving: Salsa at Moonwalk Studio, Malad East, Rs 916 for 90 minutes. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
- A flexible weeknight: Beginner Rifle Shooting at Gold Vision Shooting Academy, Goregaon West, Rs 1,037 for an hour. Its 2 hour cut-off was the shortest stated among the 54 listings we checked.
How Awwee helps: set the group to one and say when you want to be home. The confirmation reaches your email and mobile, so you have it without data.
First Time in a New Country: Which Apps Should You Install Before You Land?
Install two apps for things to do before you land. Use a global tours marketplace for headline sights, and a local app for everyday plans near your stay. Check that both accept your card and confirm by email, so roaming data is not your ticket.
What they search: "What is the best app for Dubai tourists?" Language comes next: "Are the Dubai tourist apps available even if I don't speak Arabic?" Visitors to Singapore ask: "Do foreigners need a different ticket, price, or visa for Singapore?"
What matters: language, payment, jet lag, and whether visitors pay what residents pay. A three hour plan on day one beats a twelve hour one.
Check in any app: supported languages; the currency charged; whether your home card works; the meeting point in writing.
Example plans, where Awestruck is live:
- Day one, on foot: the heritage walk with 5 Senses Tours, Naoroji Rd, Rs 2,260 for three hours. Cancel at least 3 hours before.
- First evening: Yacht Ride at Gateway Sailing Club, Colaba, Rs 5,009 for two hours. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
How Awwee helps: ask in the language you think in, since Awwee chats in any language you write in. Elsewhere, start with the leaders in the by-market guide.
New to a City: How Do You Find the Good Stuff Near Where You Live?
Search any app for things to do by neighbourhood, not by city. Start with three plans close to home, then add one day trip and one activity you repeat every week.
What they search: "first time in [city] what to do" at first. Once they know the names, they search suburb by suburb.
What matters: you do not yet know which areas sit next to each other. Nor do you know how long a crossing takes at 6 pm, or which venues locals trust.
Check in any app: a neighbourhood filter; travel time; recent, real reviews; live slots instead of "call to check".
Example plans:
- Your own area first: open a locality page such as things to do in Thane. Thane is one of 40 localities on Awestruck's location filter.
- See the city at night: Midnight Cycling in Colaba, a four hour ride with a local travel club. It costs Rs 1,161 and is final once booked.
How Awwee helps: location is one of its signals, so "near me" means near you. Once you log in, it remembers what you liked.
Expats and New Residents: Which Apps Help You Build a Life, Not Just a Weekend?
The apps that help newcomers most help you repeat things: a weekly class, a regular game, a group you see twice. Routine builds a social circle faster than one big outing.
What they search: "privilee vs entertainer" and "expat in dubai reddit". Deal hunters ask: "Which Dubai app offers the best discounts on shopping, dining, and attractions?" Newcomers elsewhere ask: "Are these events good for someone new?"
Check in any app: whether sessions repeat weekly; beginner levels; the host's language; a group small enough to talk in.
Example plans:
- A weekly habit: HYROX Power Session at Shadowbox, Goregaon East, Rs 2,321 for an hour. Final once booked.
- A regular game: Pickleball Play Session at Mark10 Pickleball, Thane West, Rs 931 for an hour. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
- A social evening: Cocktail Workshop at Drinq By Flaming Trio, Bandra West, Rs 6,964 for two hours. Cancel at least 48 hours before.
How Awwee helps: log in and each suggestion fits a little better than the last. Gulf readers will find where Awestruck goes after India in the UAE section.
Corporate Teams: How Do You Book an Outing for 30 Without an Agency?
Fix headcount, budget per head, travel time and date first. Then shortlist venues with clear group pricing and a refund rule your approval cycle can live with.
What they ask: the questions agencies answer in their FAQs. "How far in advance should we book?" "What group sizes do you handle?" "Do you arrange travel also for teams?"
What matters: group size limits and a tax invoice in the company's name (a GST invoice in India). A named contact for the day and transport matter too.
Check in any app: the maximum group size, and whether a tax invoice is issued. Ask whether transport is included; if the listing is silent, assume not. On lead time, one rule works: book as early as the refund rule still lets you change your mind.
Example plans:
- Overnight offsite: Group Staycation at The Kanila Resort, Karjat, Rs 4,765. Cancel at least 4 days before for a full refund.
- A day at a fort: Day Picnic at Fort Jadhavgadh, Jadhavwadi, Rs 3,786. It cannot be cancelled, so lock the headcount first.
- After work, any fitness level: Bowling And Arcade Combo at Gamera Playverse, Ghansoli, Rs 785 for an hour.
More options sit on Awestruck's team outings page and corporate outings hub. Bengaluru, Delhi NCR or Hyderabad? The team outings page is candid: "share your plan and we will tell you honestly what we can book." Fully remote team? See online experiences.
Access Needs: How Do You Find Activities That Actually Work for You?
Ask the specific question before you pay: step-free entry, an accessible toilet, seating, lighting and noise, a carer's ticket. If the app has no access filter, the listing and a direct question to support have to do the work.
What they search: "activities near me for adults with disabilities". Travel guides add "How accessible are public attractions in Singapore for people with disabilities?"
What matters: specifics, not labels. "Accessible" can mean a ramp at the door and stairs inside. Light, noise and crowds can matter as much as steps.
Check in any app: written access details, and honestly labelled photos (question 7 of the 12 question test). Look too for a refund rule that allows for a bad day.
Honest status: Awestruck's filters cover location, category, group and mood. There is no access filter yet, so ask.
Example plans (usually seated; confirm entry first):
- Pastry Painting Workshop at Spice And Umami, Andheri West, Rs 1,344 for 90 minutes. Final once booked.
- Fly a Boeing 737 at D V Flight 4 Fantasy, Kurla West, Rs 4,398 for an hour. It is a flight simulator; cancel at least 24 hours before.
How Awwee helps: describe the need in your own words. If one detail decides the day, put it to support at connect@bookawestruck.com or on WhatsApp before you pay.

By Mood: 12 Feelings and Exactly What to Type When You Have Them
Quick answer: In any app for things to do, search by how you feel, not by category: put the feeling, the time you have and the budget in one line, then filter.
- Awestruck's mood filter includes Energetic, Relaxed, Romantic and Curious; anything else goes to Awwee.
- 76% of travellers would use a search tool that recommends destinations by mood.
- Moods stack: say both halves in one sentence and the shortlist sharpens.
Nobody wakes up wanting "an escape room". People wake up restless, or tired, or ready to celebrate, and the category comes later. Travellers say the same.
76%
of travellers would use a search tool that recommends destinations by mood or emotional state (Booking.com survey, 28,230 people in 32 markets)
Awestruck's mood filter offers Adventure, Adventurous, Energetic, Explorer, Hungry, Relaxed, Romantic and Curious; anything else is one sentence to Awwee. Each mood gets a line to type into any things to do app, a filter and one live Awestruck example. Prices are as listed on 2 Nov 2026.
Restless
You need to move, or break something, and soon. Type: "Restless, need to burn energy, one hour, near me." Filter: Energetic.
Example: Smash Your Stress at Rage Room, Andheri East, Rs 779 for 10 minutes of breaking things on purpose.
Romantic
Slow, private, and about the two of you. Type: "Anniversary weekend, two of us, somewhere slow, with a spa." Filter: Romantic.
Example: Vineyard Stay with Spa & Wine Tasting at Soma Vine Village, Nashik, Rs 13,073. Fees rise as the date nears, with no refund in the last 7 days.
Curious
Something you cannot yet explain to friends. Type: "Something I have never done, Sunday, two hours." Filter: Curious or Explorer.
Example: Korean AI Scalp Spa at Elixir Wellness, Pedder Road, Rs 8,010 for an hour.
Tired
The body has had enough. Type: "Exhausted, massage this evening, within 3 km." Filter: Relaxed.
Example: Balinese Massage at Allure Thai Spa, Andheri East, Rs 3,746 for an hour. Cancel at least 24 hours before.
Celebratory
A birthday, a promotion, a result. Type: "Birthday, Saturday evening, something none of us has done." Filter: none fits; tell Awwee the occasion.
Example: Luxury Sailing at AQUASAIL, Colaba, Rs 15,775 for 90 minutes. Non-refundable, but you can reschedule within 30 days.
Competitive
Someone has to win. Type: "Four of us, want a scoreboard, under an hour." Filter: Energetic or Adventure.
Example: Olympic Air Pistol Shooting at 10x Shooting India, Thane West, Rs 1,039 for 40 minutes.
Creative
You want to leave with something you made. Type: "Beginner, want to make something with my hands, Saturday." Filter: the Creative Workshops category.
Example: Make your Clay Cup at DIY Pottery, Prabhadevi, Rs 2,814 for 90 minutes. Final once booked.
Outdoorsy
Open sky, and a night away from screens. Type: "Camping by a lake this weekend, two of us." Filter: Adventurous or Explorer.
Example: Pawna Lake Camping at Adventure Geek, Lonavala, Rs 3,228. Final once booked.
Need quiet
Not tired, just full. Type: "Need quiet, one hour, no talking, this week." Filter: Relaxed.
Example: Sound Healing Session at O' Mind Your Body, Bandra West, Rs 5,239 for an hour. Non-refundable; reschedule with 48 hours' notice.

Rainy day
Indoors, warm, and long enough to forget the weather. Type: "Raining, indoors, two hours, something cosy." Filter: Hungry, or the Food and Drink category.
Example: Hand-made Pasta Workshop at Spice And Umami, Andheri West, Rs 1,588 for two hours. Final once booked.
Low budget
A good time does not need a big number. Type: "Under Rs 400, today, near me." Filter: none; the number in the sentence does the work.
Example: the 400 Metre Zipline Experience at Fountain City Waterpark, Vasai, Rs 311 for 10 minutes. The PS5 Gaming Arena costs Rs 279.
Last minute
It is 5 pm and the evening is suddenly free; same-day bookings are a sizeable share of this category. Type: "Tonight, two hours from now, three of us." Check: the live time slots on the listing.
Example: Ward 13 Escape Challenge at Rare Escape, Lower Parel West, Rs 1,221 for an hour. Same-day cancellations get no refund.
Moods stack, too. "Tired but restless" points to a short, physical session close to home. "Romantic but broke" points to a workshop for two rather than dinner out. Say both halves in one sentence and the shortlist sharpens.

The Fair Deal: Why the Best Small Venue So Often Loses to the Biggest Budget
Quick answer: Small venues often lose because many big platforms keep about 15% to 30% of each booking and sell better placement. On Awestruck, businesses list free and pay only a small conversion fee per real booking.
- Where placement can be bought, a small venue pays twice: to be seen, then to sell.
- A typical US restaurant keeps about 5% of sales as pretax profit.
- Venues win on any app for things to do with honest listings and live slots.
Users rarely see this side of apps for things to do, but they pay for it. The platform's cut sits inside every price, and its ranking decides which venues survive.
How much do the big platforms take?
The big delivery and booking platforms commonly keep about 15% to 30% of the booking value, often before any advertising spend. Smaller businesses often pay a higher share than large brands.
| Where | What is charged | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Restaurants on delivery platforms, India | 20% to 30% commission, called "unviable" in the national restaurant association's complaint | LiveLaw, Apr 2022 |
| The same market, by size | All-in deductions of 18% to 26%; smaller outlets upwards of 20%, large brands 10% to 16% | YourStory, Jul 2025 |
| Apple's App Store | 30% standard; 15% under its Small Business Program | Apple Developer, Nov 2026 |
Experience marketplaces sit in the same band; their published and operator-reported rates are in are apps cheaper than booking direct?
One point of fairness. India's competition regulator, in its public 2022 order on that complaint, did not pursue the commission-level allegation. It chose price parity and platform neutrality for investigation instead (LiveLaw, Apr 2022). The companies have said no final order exists (Outlook Business, Nov 2024). We found none as of 2 Nov 2026. High commissions are a business model, not a legal finding.
Why can ads and visibility fees cost more than the commission?
Paid visibility turns ranking into an auction, where the biggest budget appears first. A small venue pays twice: once to be seen, and again in commission when it sells.
- One leading experiences marketplace lets operators pay a higher commission for better search placement. Its parent reported higher take rates as a result (Skift, Nov 2023).
- The largest online travel group reported US$1,194 million in advertising and other revenues in 2025 (Booking Holdings Form 10-K, 2026).
- Ads have reached AI answers too. In January 2026, Google's AI Mode introduced "Direct Offers", shown as "Sponsored deal" (9to5Google, Jan 2026).
Regulators are asking for labels rather than bans, as the trust section sets out. None of this is hidden, and for the platforms it works. But where placement can be bought, the first result answers two questions at once: what fits you, and who paid.
What does a 15% to 30% cut do to a small venue's margin?
A 15% to 30% commission can wipe out a small venue's margin. A typical US restaurant keeps about 5% of sales as pretax profit (National Restaurant Association, Aug 2022). The commission is three to six times that profit.
That is arithmetic on published figures, not a study of any platform. The venue can raise prices, trim costs or lose money on the order, and guests pay for the first two.
Small operators are losing their own front door too. Operators' direct websites fell from 29% to 25% of experience bookings (Hospitality.today, Feb 2026). Online travel agencies rose to 37%, the same report found. A pottery studio or a family-run resort has no advertising team. On an auction-based shelf, it competes with brands that do.
A wonderful supper club or a small wellness clinic should not lose to a big brand just because the big brand can outspend it on advertising.

What does a partner pay on Awestruck?
On Awestruck, businesses list free and never pay for ads or placement. They pay only a small conversion fee when a real booking comes in. Nothing else is ever taken.
| What a venue may pay elsewhere | On Awestruck | Where Awestruck states it |
|---|---|---|
| Listing or joining fee | None: "Zero joining fee, zero subscription." | Reviews page |
| Advertising fee | None: "no listing fee and no ad spend" | Hotel partner page |
| Paid placement | None: "There is no sponsored placement inside results." | Reviews page |
We are not adding another cost for an independent business to carry, we are taking one away. ... You pay only when someone who truly wanted what you do walks through your door.
DNA India, 29 May 2026
How can a small venue stand beside a big brand and win?
A small venue wins by being better at what a guest can feel. That means honest listings, clear refund rules, real slots and service people rate well. Where placement is not for sale, service becomes the marketing budget.
Pancham told DNA India: "We built the AI so the best experience wins, not the biggest budget." Five habits win on any platform, and count double where ranking cannot be bought:
- Show the real place, and label illustrative photos.
- Write the cancellation rule in plain words on the listing.
- Keep slots live. A phantom slot costs more trust than an empty calendar.
- Answer fast. A quick reply often wins the Saturday booking.
- Ask happy guests to rate you. Ratings are one of the signals Awwee reads.
Quality cuts both ways. Awestruck's partner FAQ says listings averaging below 3.0 over 5 unique reviews may be suspended or delisted. That protects good venues from sharing a shelf with poor ones.
An invitation to venues
Run an escape room, a studio, a spa, a resort or a walking tour? You can list on Awestruck free through the partner onboarding page. Hotels and resorts have their own page. Awestruck books in one region of India today. It covers India's main cities first, then other parts of Asia and the Middle East, then the wider world. If you are elsewhere, write to connect@bookawestruck.com.
Pancham's pitch to the smallest operators: "For an operator with no website and nothing to spend on marketing, it quietly does the finding, the matching and the booking, and asks for nothing until a real guest walks in."
Run something people love?
List free. No advertising fee. No paid placement. Pay only a small conversion fee when a real booking comes in.

Online Experiences, Coming Soon: Live Sessions for People Who Cannot Share a Room
Quick answer: Online experiences are live, hosted sessions you join from a screen, suited to long distance couples, remote teams and people who find going out hard; Awestruck has said they are coming, with no date.
- Good online sessions send a kit in advance and keep the group small.
- Check the start time in your own time zone and the rule for changes.
- Awestruck has announced no date for online experiences, and its website lists none today.
What counts as an online experience?
An online experience is a live session with a real host, a set time and something to do. It is not a video you watch. Good ones send a kit or a shopping list in advance. They keep the group small enough for the host to see everyone, and end with something made or learned.
Keep expectations in proportion: the growth in this category is in person. Airbnb's 2025 relaunch of Experiences was in person too (see global tour and activity marketplaces). Online complements going out.
Who are online experiences for?
Online experiences suit people who cannot easily share a room. They include couples in different cities and teams in different time zones. Grandparents who cannot travel and teenagers learning a skill at home fit too.
- Long distance couples search "online activities for couples long distance": same class, same hour, two kitchens.
- Remote teams search "virtual team building activities for employees", the remote version of the corporate outing.
- Seniors at home can share a class with a grandchild in another city, without stairs or traffic.
- Teens turn up in US and UAE suggestions for "online cooking classes for teens"; a parent books and stays close.
What has Awestruck said about its plans?
Awestruck has said only that online experiences are coming. A company-supplied release in Mid-Day, May 2026 said "online experiences are on the way". A June 2026 piece in YourStory listed them as "to follow". No date has been announced, and the website lists none today. When they arrive, hold them to the same 12 question test as any app for things to do.
What should you check before booking any online experience?
Check the start time in your own time zone, what kit you need and when it arrives. Ask too what happens if the connection drops. Read the rule for changes as well: "How do I change or cancel an online experience?" is a question people really ask.
- Time: shown in your local time, not the host's.
- Kit: what is sent, what you buy, and when it arrives.
- Group and cameras: how many join, and whether cameras are expected.
- Recording: whether the session is recorded, and who sees it.
- Dropped connection: a rejoin link, a make-up session or a refund.
If your team would use online sessions, tell us what you need.

The Next Decade of Apps for Things to Do: The Evidence, Then 10 Predictions You Can Hold Us To
Quick answer: Experiences are outgrowing travel, two in three are still booked offline, and AI is becoming the starting point; within a decade, we expect apps for things to do to plan from a feeling, the way Awwee does today.
- Only 33% of experience bookings were made online in 2025, against 64% for travel.
- AI referrals to US travel websites rose 3,500% year on year in July 2025.
- Assistants are moving from finding to booking, but in-chat checkout has been scaled back once.
Two in Three Experiences Are Still Booked Offline. That Is the Opening.
Experiences are growing faster than the rest of travel. The global travel experiences market reached US$271 billion in 2025 (Arival and Phocuswright, Feb 2026). It is forecast to pass US$340 billion by 2029. That is growth of 8% a year from 2023 to 2029, against 5% for travel overall.
Booking has not caught up, and even the 2029 forecast leaves most experience bookings offline.
33%
Share of experience bookings made online in 2025, against 64% for travel overall, forecast to reach 42% by 2029
This is a large, growing market, run mostly by small businesses and booked mostly offline. Whoever makes booking simple for both sides will shape it.
AI Is Becoming the Front Door to Free Time
People increasingly ask before they search. AI referrals to US travel websites rose 3,500% year on year in July 2025 (Adobe, Sep 2025). The most common use, at 53%, was researching attractions and restaurants. Add the adoption figures in the AI planners section, and the direction is plain. The first question about a free evening is moving from a search bar to an assistant.
The Agentic Booking Timeline, Dated
Agents that book for you are live, but early.
| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 23 Jan 2025 | OpenAI previews Operator, a browser agent, with partners including OpenTable and StubHub | OpenAI, Jan 2025 |
| 21 Aug 2025 | Google AI Mode books restaurant tables for some US users (AI Ultra, Labs) | Google, Aug 2025 |
| 29 Sep 2025 | OpenAI launches Instant Checkout in ChatGPT | OpenAI, Sep 2025 |
| 6 Oct 2025 | Apps in ChatGPT launch, with Booking.com and Expedia among partners | OpenAI, Oct 2025 |
| 5 Nov 2025 | AI Mode adds agentic search for event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments (Labs) | Android Authority, Nov 2025 |
| Nov 2025 | Google confirms flight and hotel booking in AI Mode, and says it is not the merchant of record | PhocusWire, Nov 2025 |
| 11 Jan 2026 | Google brings checkout to AI Mode and Gemini for US retailers | 9to5Google, Jan 2026 |
| 5 Mar 2026 | OpenAI shifts ChatGPT shopping from in-chat checkout back to discovery | Skift, Mar 2026 |
| 12 Aug 2026 | Gemini's new connected apps include Fever, GetYourGuide, Ticketmaster and OpenTable (UK) | Google, Aug 2026 |
Assistants are moving from finding to booking, but in-chat checkout has already been scaled back once. What holds so far is AI for discovery (PhocusWire, 2026). Payment and refunds stay on a booking platform or the operator's own system. That favours apps for things to do with clean, bookable, real-time inventory.
Loneliness, and the Shrinking Third Place
1 in 6
People worldwide who are lonely; loneliness is linked to more than 871,000 deaths a year
Loneliness runs at 17% to 21% among people aged 13 to 29 (WHO, Jun 2025). The World Happiness Report (Mar 2025) found that 26% of Americans ate every meal alone the previous day in 2023. That was up 53% since 2003. Sharing meals predicts wellbeing about as strongly as income, the same report says. Americans spent about 20 minutes a day with friends in person in 2020 (PBS NewsHour, May 2023). Nearly two decades earlier, it was 60 minutes.
Third places, the cafés, clubs and libraries between home and work, are thinning out. A spring 2023 survey covered nearly 7,000 US adults aged 55 and over (EurekAlert, Apr 2024). Compared with before the pandemic, 75% dined out less and 62% visited cultural venues less.
No app for things to do cures loneliness. Shared activities are associated with wellbeing, though. People are adapting, from solo dining to friendships made over a shared activity. Making those plans easier to start is useful work.
Hyperlocal, Voice and Wearables
- Hyperlocal: nearly 1 in 5 travellers under 55 booked a walk-up experience on their latest trip (Phocuswright, Jul 2026).
- Voice: Alexa+ books tables through OpenTable, rides through Uber and tickets through Ticketmaster (TechCrunch, Dec 2025). It adds Expedia hotel booking from 2026.
- Wearables: more than 7 million Ray-Ban and Oakley Meta glasses were sold in 2025 (UploadVR, Feb 2026). That is over three times the 2024 figure.
Regulators Are Reading the Ranking
India's 2026 e-commerce amendments take effect on 1 Jan 2027 (SCC Online, Sep 2026). They go beyond the sponsored labels described in the trust section. Under them, platforms must self-audit for dark patterns every year and can no longer bundle fees for unrelated services. The US already requires all-in prices for live-event tickets and short stays. The EU's ranking-disclosure rule is covered in are the top results paid for? The open question is not whether apps will sell placement, but whether users will be able to see it.
Our Predictions (Opinion) for the Decade Ahead
Everything below is our opinion: ten bets, each specific enough to be proved wrong. Awestruck is built around several of them, so weigh them with that bias in mind. We will revisit each one as its date passes.
- By the end of 2028, the leading apps for things to do will open on a sentence box, not a category grid. The test: at least half of the ten most-installed in each of India, the UAE and the US. Venues that describe how an experience feels will beat keyword lists.
- Online booking will pass half of all experience bookings worldwide by 2033. We extended a straight line through 17% in 2019, 33% in 2025 and 42% forecast for 2029. Those figures are from Arival and Phocuswright (Feb 2026); the extension is ours, not a published forecast. For venues, a synced calendar becomes as basic as a phone number.
- Through 2030, most bookings that start in an AI assistant will be paid outside it. Payment will happen on a booking app's or the operator's own checkout. Let the assistant suggest, and pay where the refund rules are clear.
- By the end of 2029, a regulator will act on how ads inside AI answers are labelled. We expect at least one in the six markets this guide covers. Look for "sponsored" in an AI answer as you would in search results.
- By 2030, "near me" will mean minutes, not kilometres. Leading apps will rank by real travel time. The studio round the corner will beat the famous name across town more often.
- By 2029, leading AI planners will show what they remember and let you delete it item by item. Repeat guests will come from good matches, not reminder spam.
- By 2028, at least three large experience marketplaces will offer a solo filter or solo label. Single seats will fill gaps in group sessions.
- By 2030, all six markets in this guide will require the first price shown to include mandatory fees. The rule will cover event and experience tickets. A low headline price with extras at checkout will stop working.
- By 2029, every leading AI planner will show a "why this pick" line under each recommendation. Quality and response time will start to outrank budget.
- By 2030, most people will still choose an experience on a phone. Glasses and watches will handle the last metre: directions, check-in and the ticket at the door. QR and wallet check-in will matter more than app-only tickets.
Tonight comes before 2035. Start with a feeling and let Awwee find the plan.

Who Is Behind This Guide, and How to Check Our Work
Quick answer: Awestruck wrote this guide to apps for things to do, and its own app is compared here; every competitor fact has a dated public source, and corrections go to connect@bookawestruck.com.
- No app paid to be in this guide; there are no affiliate links and no ads.
- Research was done on 2 Nov 2026, read-only, with no bookings on any app.
- Every section is read and approved by Awestruck's human editorial team before it goes live.
The Founders
The company behind the app is Awestruck Joymakers LLP, registered in 2024.

Pancham SN Bannerrjee is Awestruck's co-founder, CEO and CTO. He built the technology and the concept behind the app and its AI, Awwee. In 2010 he founded AdEngage, a business growth and technology company working across India and the UAE (AdEngage, Nov 2026).
We did not want to build another place to scroll. We wanted to build someone who notices.
A letter to the doubters, bookawestruck.com/awwee/

Namrata Agrawal Banerji is Awestruck's co-founder, Chief of Partnerships and CMO.
Our part in it is small, and we are glad it is: we come to understand a person, we make the introduction, and then we let the moment belong to them.

The first quote is from Awestruck's own site, and the second from a release it supplied to Mid-Day. Read both as the company speaking, not as independent reporting.
Why a Company in This Category Wrote It
We built Awestruck, so we have a stake in how apps for things to do are described. In our research, no ranking page compared the leading apps across these six markets and five kinds of app. That gap is why we wrote the guide. Six rules manage the conflict.
- Competitors are described from dated public sources only: store listings, help and policy pages, filings, regulators and trade press.
- No app paid to be in this guide. There are no affiliate links and no ads. No competitor logos or implied partnerships appear either.
- Awestruck sits the same 12 question test, with its limits stated: today it books in one Indian state.
- Our own numbers can be checked. Store ratings come with counts and dates, and the catalogue size with the day we counted. Self-descriptions are attributed to the company.
- Opinion is labelled, as in our predictions.
- Every section is read and approved by Awestruck's human editorial team before it goes live.
The same principle runs the company's public reviews page:
We published this page because scrutiny is a compliment.
A note from the CEO, Awestruck Reviews, 21 Jul 2026
How We Researched It
Research for this edition was done on 2 Nov 2026 and was read-only. We used no accounts, logins, bookings or form submissions on any app, ours included. Beyond the search check in how we built this guide, it covered:
- Google Play listings for 27 competitor apps for things to do
- FAQ questions from 26 ranking pages
- 54 live Awestruck experience pages and their 159 images, for price, cancellation rule and photo labels
- primary sources for market figures
Google's own result order and People Also Ask boxes were not observable, so this guide claims no rankings. Every fact was checked against its named source; the full list with links is in Sources.
When It Was Last Updated
Last updated: 2 Nov 2026. Every competitor fact keeps its "as of" date, so you can see how current each number is.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, write to connect@bookawestruck.com with the sentence, the correct fact and a public source. That includes the companies we describe: if your fees, cities or policies change, tell us. We usually reply within a couple of hours.

45 of 45 questions shown
What are fun things to do near me for teens?
Group activities with a clear start and finish work best, such as bowling, laser tag, escape rooms, go-karting or a pottery class. Pick daytime slots, which make the ride home simple. On Awestruck on 2 Nov 2026, a bowling game pass cost Rs 330 and laser tag Rs 1,039. More in the teens module.
Can a 16-year-old book an activity without a parent?
Not on Awestruck, where bookers must be 18 or older, so a parent or guardian books for anyone younger. A teenager can still plan the outing with Awwee. Other apps set their own minimum age, and venues add limits for activities such as shooting or go-karting. Check both before your teenager heads out, and agree a pickup time.
What are good birthday ideas for teens?
Choose one activity the whole group can do at once and book a single slot, so nobody waits around. A bowling and arcade combo, an escape room or laser tag suits mixed interests. On 2 Nov 2026, a bowling and arcade combo was listed on Awestruck at Rs 785 for an hour.
What are fun things to do for college students?
Cheap, social and close to campus wins: comedy nights, gaming arenas, bowling, dance classes and free events. Pay as a group so nobody chases money later. On Awestruck on 2 Nov 2026, a stand-up comedy night was Rs 549 and a PS5 gaming session Rs 279.
How do I find cheap things to do near me?
Sort by price, then by distance, in whichever app for things to do you use. Judge the total on the final screen rather than the headline price. Short sessions, off-peak slots and free community events stretch a small budget furthest. On 2 Nov 2026, Awestruck's listings started from Rs 147.
Are there free apps like Meetup?
Yes. Eventbrite lists free and paid events by city. On Meetup, the organisers decide whether to charge dues or event fees. For a group you plan to stay with, check how often it meets and who runs it. See apps like Meetup.
How do you plan a date night?
Start with the feeling you want, then the logistics: time, budget and distance. Decide if you would rather talk, move or make something. Book one anchor activity, put food within walking distance and read the cancellation rule before paying. A pottery wheel or a salsa class gives you something to do side by side.
What can couples do tonight near me?
Anything with an open slot in the next few hours and less than 30 minutes away works. Comedy, an escape room, a spa session for two, a dance class or an evening sail all fit. Filter your app for things to do by today, sort by distance and check the slot is live. Then plan dinner around it.
What are good anniversary ideas near me?
Do something neither of you has done before, and book it as soon as the date is fixed. A private sail, a night away or a spa session for two marks the day better than another dinner. On 2 Nov 2026, a two-hour sunset yacht sail was listed on Awestruck at Rs 6,964.
What can long-distance couples do together online?
Book the same live session from two places. An online cooking or art class works, as do a quiz night or a film watched in sync on a call. Check the start time in both time zones and post any materials early. Awestruck has said online experiences are coming, with no date; see online experiences.
What if we do not drink or go to restaurants?
Build the date around doing something. Pottery, salsa, escape rooms, shooting ranges, sailing, heritage walks and sound healing need neither a bar nor a dinner table. Planning with an AI? Put "no alcohol, no restaurant" in your first sentence so it filters those out from the start.
Do both partners need the app?
No. On Awestruck, one person books for the group by choosing the number of people. The confirmation goes to that person's email and mobile. On other apps, check whether a ticket can be forwarded or lives inside one account. That matters if you arrive separately.
What can we do with the kids this weekend near me?
Start from your child's age band, then distance and time. Water parks, trampoline zones, bowling, illusion museums and pottery suit most ages if the height and age rules fit. On 2 Nov 2026, a kids' trampoline and play zone was listed on Awestruck at Rs 311 for an hour. More in the families module.
What can we do with kids on a rainy day?
Go indoors and keep them moving. Trampoline parks, bowling, arcades, illusion museums and baking or pottery workshops burn energy whatever the weather. Search "indoor" with your neighbourhood name, and book a fixed slot so you skip the queue. Read the listing for grip socks, aprons or anything else to bring.
What is the best app for activities with kids?
The best app for things to do with kids depends on where you live. In Singapore, Sassy Mama publishes a weekend planner for families. Elsewhere, use a general booking app and filter by age.
Do booking platforms offer child discounts?
Some listings do, but the venue usually sets them, not the app. Look for a child price, age bands or a family combo, then compare the total for your whole group. If a listing says nothing about children, ask support before paying and keep the answer in writing.
Can I cancel if my child gets sick?
Only if the listing's rule allows it at that point, because each operator usually sets its own cut-off. On 2 Nov 2026, Awestruck's rules ran from "bookings are final" to a full refund up to 4 days before. With small children, favour the longer cut-off.
What can I do with elderly parents near me?
Choose a gentle pace, a short trip and somewhere to sit. A heritage walk with rests, sound healing, a spa hour, music, comedy or a day at a resort all work. Check step-free access, toilets and session length before booking, and in hot weather go early or late. See the seniors module.
How do you handle a group with mixed fitness levels?
Pick activities with a seated or low-effort option and a fixed end time. Bowling, pottery, a flight simulator or a sail all qualify. Skip anything that splits the group by ability. Tell the planner the range up front, for example "ages 8 to 70, one walking stick".
Is there an app for solo travellers to meet people?
Yes. Meetup is built around recurring interest groups, and Eventbrite and AllEvents list one-off gatherings you can attend alone. The easier route is often an activity sold per person, such as a walking tour or a cooking class. Conversation starts over the task. See apps like Meetup.
What are safe things to do alone as a woman?
Daytime or early-evening group formats with a named host are a sensible start. Choose venues with recent reviews and a support line that answers. Share your booking confirmation with someone you trust, and plan the trip home before you pay. More in going solo.
Which apps for things to do work offline?
Assume none works fully offline until you have checked. Save the confirmation email or a screenshot of the ticket. Download the venue's location in your maps app and note the support number. Then test whether the app opens tickets without a connection.
What happens if the operator cancels at the last minute?
You should be offered your money back or a credit, so ask which before you accept. On Awestruck, if a partner cancels because of weather, safety or government restrictions, you get a full refund or credit. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days.
Is Klook safe to use with a credit card?
Paying inside Klook's official app or website is the safe route. Avoid payment links sent by message. In India, merchants may not store actual card numbers (Business Today, Aug 2022).
Is Headout legit for tickets?
Yes. Headout Inc. is listed with a New York address on Google Play. Check the entry time, what the ticket includes and the refund rule, which varies by experience, and keep your confirmation.
Is Viator safe to book with?
As a platform, yes. Each tour is run by an independent operator, so check its name, meeting point and cancellation tier on the listing.
Is the Fever app legit?
It is. Google named Fever among Gemini's connected apps in August 2026. Before buying, check the venue, the date and whether the ticket arrives by email or only in the app.
Is the District app safe to book tickets on?
Yes, if you buy inside the official app. District is Zomato's going-out app, launched in November 2024 (Inc42, Jan 2025). Check the convenience fee first, since event tickets are refundable only if the organiser allows it.
How far in advance should we book a team outing?
As soon as the date and headcount are fixed, then read the cancellation tiers against your approval cycle. Overnight stays can carry stepped fees. On 2 Nov 2026, one vineyard stay on Awestruck charged a 20% fee up to 60 days before. The fee was 50% up to 30 days, with no refund within 7 days.
What group sizes can activity apps handle?
That depends on the venue more than the app. An escape room suits a small team, while resorts and picnic venues can host whole departments. Enter your headcount first so only venues that fit appear. On Awestruck, team outings are confirmed by email and a call from the team.
Are team outings worth it for small companies and startups?
Usually, when the outing is short, close and chosen with the team. A two-hour activity near the office costs far less than a day trip and loses less work time. Hands-on formats such as pottery or bowling let quieter people join in. Shortlist two options and let the team vote.
What is the ideal distance for a weekend team outing?
Keep travel to about two hours each way for a day outing. That way the day goes on the activity rather than the road. One resort day picnic on Awestruck ran 8 hours as listed on 2 Nov 2026. With that travel, it fits a 12-hour day.
Do virtual team building activities work?
They can, for remote teams, when they are short, hosted and hands-on. Aim for 60 to 90 minutes in which everyone makes or solves something on camera. Keep groups small enough to talk, send kits ahead and test the link the day before. See what to check before booking one.
Can I book an experience at the last minute?
Often, yes: same-day bookings are a large share of experience bookings (Phocuswright, Jul 2026). Walk-up visits are common on trips too. Filter by today, make sure the slot is bookable now rather than on request, and read the cut-off before you pay.
Are reviews on booking platforms trustworthy?
Partly. Read the newest reviews, the lowest ones and the operator's replies, and trust patterns over single scores. Check the count behind a rating: a 4.8 from a few dozen ratings is weaker evidence than a 4.5 from thousands. Recent guest photos beat a polished description.
Do I need the app to get my tickets?
It depends on the app. Some send tickets by email or SMS, while others keep them only inside the app. That matters if you share a phone, travel without data or book for someone else. Awestruck sends the booking confirmation to your registered email and mobile number after payment.
Will AI replace booking apps?
Not soon. AI assistants are becoming where people start. Payment and refunds still mostly sit with a booking platform or the operator. OpenAI scaled back in-chat checkout in March 2026. Google says it is not the merchant of record for travel booked in AI Mode. See the agentic booking timeline.
Is my data private on these apps?
Each app for things to do is only as private as its policy and settings make it. Check what it stores, whether conversations feed advertising, who receives your details and how to delete them. In India, most DPDP obligations apply from 13 May 2027. For AI planners, use the nine privacy questions.
Are Airbnb online experiences shutting down?
We found no formal shutdown notice. Airbnb's 13 May 2025 release relaunched in-person Experiences and added Services, with no online category in the relaunch (Airbnb, May 2025). Treat online availability as uncertain, or see the Airbnb Experiences alternatives.
What is Awestruck?
Awestruck is a hyperlocal app and website for finding and booking things to do near you. Its range runs from workshops and wellness to adventure, staycations and team outings. It is run by Awestruck Joymakers LLP, registered in 2024, and listed 369 experiences as of 2 Nov 2026. Its AI is Awwee.
What is Awwee, and is it really the first AI for free time?
Awwee is Awestruck's AI for free time. Describe your mood, time, budget and company, and it suggests experiences and day plans you can book in the same chat. Awestruck describes it as the world's first AI built for your free time. We found no independent verification of that claim.
Where is Awestruck available?
Awestruck books experiences in Mumbai and nearby parts of Maharashtra, with 369 listed as of 2 Nov 2026. It is built for every city. Awestruck covers India's main cities first, then other parts of Asia and the Middle East, then the wider world.
Is it safe to pay on Awestruck?
Payments on Awestruck go through PCI DSS compliant gateways, and the company says it never stores your card details. Book only in the official app or on bookawestruck.com, never through a payment link sent by message. Keep the confirmation that arrives by email and on your mobile.
How is the Awestruck app rated?
As of 2 Nov 2026, Awestruck was rated 4.6 on Google Play from 62 reviews. On the App Store, it was rated 4.8 from 17 ratings. Those are small samples from a young app, whose iOS version was first released on 14 Jan 2026.
How do I contact Awestruck support?
Email connect@bookawestruck.com, or call or WhatsApp +91 99676 35191. The team usually replies within a couple of hours. Include your booking details, the date of your slot and what went wrong, so support can act on the first reply. Both channels are on the contact page, and the same email takes corrections to this guide.
